About Pedn Olva, St Ives
Perched above West Porthminster Beach in Saint Ives, Pedn Olva is a British pub and gastropub that pairs seafront location with table-service dining in a front-of-house room, plus a terrace where music carries through the day and into the evening. The kitchen runs a British-led menu with mussels and fish and chips among the choices, and a wine list pours by the glass. The venue also operates as a hotel. Dogs are welcome. The gents' and ladies' toilets are on the ground floor, and tables are reserved by reservation.

Customer Review Summary
Diners single out the views and the mussels and fish and chips as the main draws, with several praising the wine selection and the staff's attentiveness. One birthday meal went badly wrong, with an hour-plus wait for gristle-heavy steaks and a lukewarm oil dip, though the server was kind. A cream tea mishap was handled quickly.

“Overall, we had a great experience in St Ives. The hotel is beautiful, with plenty of lovely outdoor space. We really enjoyed the view of Porthmeor Beach from our room and appreciated having a balcony. Seal and dolphin spotting from the breakfast room was a highlight. The staff was very kind. We stayed in Room 3, which was quite small but fine for two nights. The bathroom had a very small 500 x 250mm sink, which would be ok if it didn’t have a shelf directly above it, making it impossible to use the sink to wash your face or brush your teeth. I would really recommend that the hotel consider removing or repositioning the shelf (or better, install a bigger sink) The other issue was that neither the window nor the glazed door closed properly, which meant we could hear music and noise from the terrace throughout the day and until around 9:30pm. Again, this didn’t ruin our stay, but it feels like something that could be relatively easily fixed and would make a real difference to guests staying in the room. We still really enjoyed our stay. The hotel has a fantastic location and beautiful views.”

“This hotel used to be lovely Until brewery overspent on the refurb and now trying to claw back their money went there for a special birthday which was totally ruined by waiting over an hour for four steak meals. Given rancid oil dip while we waited and when the steak came was full of gristle. The waitress was lovely but apart from that would definitely not recommend. as the maître de could not give a damn”

“Great spot to eat, drink and watch the world go by. The front of house staff were very friendly and helpful. My mum had an issue with her cream tea and it was swiftly dealt with.”
