About Cocky Anchor
Cocky Anchor is a micro pub in the heart of Romsey, at 8 Market Pl, with a small downstairs bar and table service, so staff take orders at the table rather than at the bar. An extra seating area upstairs takes the overflow at busy times. The garden has winter cover and heating, which lets groups keep using it through the colder months, and the front windows open fully in better weather. Dogs are welcome. The pub serves no food beyond crisps.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the table service, which spares them leaving conversations to queue at the bar, alongside lovely beer. Staff are called lovely and knowledgeable, and the garden and outdoor area get praise. One reviewer, though, waited and left unserved because the bar won't take orders, and later saw the waitress vanish once the pub filled. Front windows open fully in good weather.

“Pub very quiet sat waiting as they won't serve at the bar, waited 20 minutes then left as no one would serve us.Went back a couple of months later and got served after about 10 minutes but that was it,pub got busy never saw the waitress again...Why they won't serve at the bar is beyond me and I wasn't alone in that opinion that evening...Nice bar staff though if you can get one...”

“2026 update. Still the best pub in Romsey in my opinion. I love this pub, most of the time they do table service which I love, no more stopping mid conversation to go to the bar! They don't do food, just crisps, which again I approve of whole heartedly. They have a small downstairs bar but I've seen that they open another seating area upstairs at least on busy times. Nice garden with winter cover and heating. Toilets are always clean and tidy. A very small area outside the front but the best bit is the front windows open fully meaning in the better weather the inside bar starts to feel outside, right in the heart of Romsey!”
