Customer Review Summary

Diners most often praise the food, naming scallop starters, a Dirty Burger, salmon, roast sirloin of beef with homemade roast potatoes, and puddings such as sticky toffee and crème brûlée, with several calling it cooked perfectly and well presented. Close behind is the friendly staff, who sang Happy Birthday at one table, made an anniversary special and handled separate bills for a family of ten without fuss. One reviewer valued the gluten, dairy and egg free sticky toffee pudding. Others mention the log fire, the welcome for dogs and live acoustic music at Bottomless Bubbles. Slow service comes up in a few reviews, with two putting it down to a busy night. The sharpest complaints concern the food: a Sunday roast with watery gravy, chalky mash and a small portion of bland vegetables, and a set-offer meal one parent called poor, after which their 14-month-old refused to eat anything. That reviewer also mentions wasps drawn by decaying apples in the garden and an email to management that went unanswered.

“Three of us had a lovely meal this evening. The food was amazing, good portions and very tasty. Good ambience, attentive service without being intrusive. Thank you Scott and Rebecca, we will be back.”

“I did send an email to management on the 31st July but I’ve had no response which is a shame. Unfortunately, the quality of the food we received was very disappointing. We both ordered the 3 for £16 offer, and the quality of all of the food was poor and well below the standard we were expecting. We left feeling very let down by the experience. What concerned us most was that our 14-month-old son, who is normally an excellent eater and will happily eat almost anything, refused to eat anything from his plate. This is very unusual for him and meant we had to take him straight home to prepare him something else to eat. We didn’t raise the issue with the team before leaving because our son had become upset and hungry, and our priority was getting him home as quickly as possible. In hindsight, I appreciate it would have been helpful to mention it at the time, but the circumstances made that difficult. Extra info: Service was slow and the place was empty. Should have cleared the decaying apples from the gardens as it attracted a lot of wasps 🙁”

“I booked a family meal for 10 all though 1 teenager dropped out, which was no issue for the restaurant. The two girls serving were so lovely and efficient. Service was a little slow at times for drinks and orders but they absolutely smashed it no fault of the staff as it was a busy Saturday night and they did exceptional especially trying to work the bar too. The atmosphere was pleasant and we really appreciated the space our table was given which was slightly private but not completely excluded which was great. Plus we loved that the venue welcomed dogs, we did not have any with us but will return with pups. Food was fantastic. Everyone was pleased. All and all it was a win. It’s worth mentioning that we were that pain in the back side family that asked for separate bills at the end, and I do apologise for that again. But reluctantly, that was no issue with the staff and they were so patient and accommodating. It was a lovely family meal and we will return again xx”

“Lovely night, my wife and I had a really nice evening meal together, we had Scollops starters, I had a lovely Dirty Burger, and my wife had the salmon. To finish, my wife had a sticky toffee pud, gluten dairy and egg free, all very nice as my wife seldom gets the chance to have a “ normal” pudding, I had a delicious crème brûlée. Yum yum. Great to have a pub restaurant that caters for gluten dairy snd egg allergy people. A nice dining experience. Thank you to all the staff, who were very friendly. 👍🌟”

“The food here is spectacular, cooked perfectly with a lovely artistic flair that still feels completely approachable. It was the perfect treat for me and my grandma, who is a notoriously picky eater! The staff were attentive without being overwhelming. Plus, the place has so much character, and the layout is spacious enough that you never feel overcrowded. Highly recommend!”
