Quick info
About Newton Arms Pub & Kitchen
Newton Arms Pub & Kitchen is a pub on China Farm Ln in Wirral, and its kitchen runs a Sunday carvery from noon. The carvery plates roast meat with roasties, thick gravy and vegetables. The menu follows daily themes, and a three-item food deal pairs dishes such as katsu curry loaded fries and halloumi bites. Live football and darts matches are shown on the screens, and the pub has pool tables and plays darts on site. A private dining room gives groups a space of their own. The main room can get noisy, and an end area is sometimes closed off. Dogs are welcome, so owners can bring them along.

Customer Review Summary
The Sunday carvery draws the most praise at the Newton Arms, with diners singling out tender meat, crispy roasties, vegetables cooked to perfection and thick gravy. Friendly staff come up repeatedly, and several reviewers say the pub has found its feet under new, local management, with one praising a new menu and daily themes. Close behind, one visitor who watched football over pints was steered by the bar staff to katsu curry loaded fries, halloumi bites and salt and pepper chicken balls from a three-item deal, and called them delicious. Pool tables are described as well kept with plenty of space, and darts also draw a crowd, including one reviewer who came for a darts final and found affordable food and fairly priced drinks. The caveats are small. One group found too much lettuce on a couple of meals and bacon overcooked on some, and another reviewer says the main room can get quite noisy for a quiet drink, hoping the end area opens when it is busy. One regular recalls Sunday roasts being off and on before the change of hands.

“We’ve been regular visitors to this pub over many years, through different managers and different names. I have to say that the current team managing the pub have got it spot on. The food is excellent, quite an improvement in quality and the new menu and daily themes is inspired. The pub has a good atmosphere again and it’s great to see it busier. The pool and darts are clearly an attraction and we’re looking forward to some warmer days to spend in the beer garden. Hopefully they will open up the end area when it gets busier as it can get quite noisy in the main room if you’ve just popped in for a quiet drink.”

“The Newton Arms is an absolute gem of a pub. I went in for the Sunday carvery and was blown away — generous portions, tender meats, crispy roasties, and plenty of proper thick gravy. The veg was fresh and well-cooked, and you can tell the food’s made with care, not just thrown together. The staff were friendly and welcoming from the moment we walked in, and the place has a lovely relaxed feel — perfect for families, mates, or just a quiet pint. After the meal, we stayed for a few games of pool, and I’ve got to say the tables are spot on — well kept, level, and loads of space around them so you can actually enjoy your game. All in all, The Newton Arms has the balance just right — great food, great service, and a proper pub atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit if you’re after a cracking carvery and a bit of fun after.”
