About Trewellard Arms
Trewellard Arms is a family-run pub on Trewellard Rd in Penzance, open daily, with a smugglers cellar and a small library inside. That gives drinkers and diners two features to explore beyond the bar. It runs as a free house, so the taps carry a range of lagers, bitters and beers, with a selection of whiskeys and wines alongside. The kitchen stops lunch service around 2pm and food returns from 6pm in the evening. Thursday is Fish Night, with fish and chips on the menu, and the lamb burger is another main. Sunday lunch is served as a roast, with roast belly pork among the options, and desserts are homemade. The pub takes walk-ins.

Customer Review Summary
Sunday roast draws the most praise at this Penzance pub, with the roast belly pork described as moist with proper crackling, and one regular insisting on it every holiday. Reviewers also rate the homemade desserts. Close behind is the fish: a Thursday Fish Night with John Dory and haddock, and fish and chips with light batter and generous crispy chips. Others single out soft, perfectly cooked squid, loaded fries with steak, and a tender ham lunch with fluffy-inside chips. The beer and whiskey selection gets repeated mentions, along with a small library and a smugglers cellar. Dogs are welcome, and several describe the publican and bar staff as welcoming, with one bartender giving directions around a road closure unasked. The one criticism is a single reviewer who found the service behind the counter a tad chilly. One suggests booking for Sunday lunch because the pub is popular. Two diners arriving just as lunch service ended were still served a meal.

“The food was outstanding. Fish and chips were lightly battered served with a generous portion of crispy chips. Lamp burger ordered which was also generous and very tasty. Service behind the counter was a tad chilly for me, probably just the heat that was making her tetchy that day. Went on a Friday night, we booked in case but it was quite quiet. Outdoor seating, dogs allowed.”

“Amazing hospitality! The best Sunday roast I’ve ever had! Every year when coming for holiday I insist we go here! All desserts are top tier as if Gordon Ramsey himself made them! 5/5 I definitely recommend!”

“We just had the most amazing Sunday lunch. The Roast belly pork was beautifully moist, with proper crackling. With a good selection of vegetables. Coupled with a choice of homemade desserts. Again delicious. The Service was prompt, efficient without being rushed. Choice of wines and beers was extensive. We would recommend booking though, to avoid disappointment. This is a very popular establishment.”

“A lovely traditional pub with proper food! Dog friendly, the publican was very welcoming and we enjoyed our meal. We visited on a Tuesday evening walking in without a booking just before 6pm…food served from 6pm so perfect timing! Meals were excellent and the beer delicious! Definitely recommend this pub 👍 there is even a little library inside if you want a book with your beer 🙃”

“We received a warm welcome, especially as we arrived a few minutes before lunch service ended. There's a good selection of lagers and bitters as you would expect in a free house. There's also a good selection of whiskeys to choose from. We were the only customers so hard to gage atmosphere but having visited in the past I know it is popular. Food was excellent and just what was need on a cold winters day.”
