About Beirut Oxford
Beirut Oxford is a Lebanese restaurant at 3 Osler Rd in Headington, Oxford, open daily. The kitchen cooks chicken and meat platters over charcoal, and the hummus arrives with special bread, with a lamb version on the menu as well. A mixed grill brings together chicken, lamb and vegetables, and the kebabs are served with a yogurty sauce. Guests who skip meat can turn to the vegetarian mezze, which gives the menu a meat-free option beside the grilled plates. The bar serves beer, wine, prosecco and cocktails to go with the food.

Reviewers most often mention mixed grill, hummus, chicken shawarma and sea bass.
Customer Review Summary
The mixed grill is the dish reviewers return to most, with chicken, lamb and vegetables described as very good, tender and juicy. Close behind are the hummus, one reviewer noting tasty lamb with it, and the chicken shawarma in a crunchy wrap. Others single out the sea bass, spicy prawn mezze, the yogurty sauce served with kebabs, and baklava with ice cream. Several praise the staff and service, and one calls the place cozy. The shawarma divides opinion, though. One diner found hardly any chicken, just flavourless bits, and called the fried squid tough and rubbery with an aioli of raw minced garlic. Another found the chicken a bit dry. One reviewer describes a rude, uninterested waitress and a 10% service charge that was not mentioned beforehand. Others note a small table, uncomfortable chairs, high prices, and being able to order only one dish at a time. A few say reservations help because the place fills up. One reviewer was given free olives, bread and hummus after a kitchen mishap caused a wait.

“Lovely place! Yummy food!! A friend took me there. I recommend it. I had vegetarian mezze. I loved it, but personally, I would prefer lentils or more falafel instead of the potatoes.”

“Delicious food and nice little restaurant in headington. I’ve been here 3 times now and the food always hits - the yogurty sauce that comes with the kebabs is so tasty! Would highly recommend the mixed grill :)”

“Incredible dining experience from start to finish! The food is exceptionally fresh and beautifully presented. We loved starting with the smooth hummus and spicy prawn mezze before moving on to the main event. The charcoal-grilled chicken and meat platters were tender, flavorful, it was the perfect meal. Phenomenal flavors and great service!”

“The food was good, but the table is quite small, and you can only order one dish at a time. The chairs are also not very comfortable, and the prices are a bit high.”

“Terrible food. Was so disappointed. Fried squid was tough and rubbery and the aioli was just raw minced garlic. No flavour and the texture was grainy. I couldn't even finish the chicken shawarma - there was hardly any actual chicken meat, just mashed up, flavourless chicken bits with the texture of wet tuna and some flavourless salad. FOR 18 POUNDS!! The best thing was the chips which were well done, crisp & salty. And the service was friendly. But Jesus Christ - the food was TERRIBLE.”
