Quick info
About Antep Kitchen
Antep Kitchen is a Turkish restaurant at 228-230 Cowley Rd in Oxford, built around a charcoal grill that the restaurant describes as the largest in the city. For diners, that puts chargrilled cooking at the centre of the menu, including shish grills such as the mixed sheesh. Kuşbaşılı Alinazik, chargrilled aubergine with lamb, is another main option. Meze come both cold and hot, so a table can start with a mixed selection of each. Freshly baked Turkish flatbread arrives before the meal at no charge, and Turkish tea is served. A lunchtime menu includes a drink.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often come for the charcoal-grilled meats, with the Kuşbaşılı Alinazik and the lamb Beyti singled out, and mixed sheesh and chicken shish also named. Close behind are the starters and breads: hot meze, mixed cold meze, and the complimentary flatbread, which one regular calls among the best from a Turkish restaurant. Reviewers describe generous portions, fresh and tasty food, and friendly, attentive staff, and several say the lunchtime menu gives a lot of food with a drink included. Turkish tea and lahmacun pide also get mentions. The recurring caveat is noise. One reviewer found the dining room extremely loud, with people talking so loudly it became uncomfortable at times, and another found the birthday music a bit too loud. Birthday celebrations are a repeated feature, with staff bringing out a dessert and playing energetic music while guests clap along. One family describes a surprise plate of Turkish baklava served that way.

“We travelled from another city and stopped here for a meal for the first time. Wow! The service was absolutely outstanding, and the food was incredibly delicious. “We visited Antep Kitchen Oxford to celebrate my husband’s birthday and had a really lovely meal. We ordered the Kuşbaşılı Alinazik, Kuzu Sarma Beyti, Turkish pizza, ezme salad and cacık. Everything was full of flavour, and the lamb dishes were particular highlights. The chargrilled aubergine with lamb was delicious, and the Beyti was rich, comforting and beautifully cooked. One thing we noticed was that there were quite a few Turkish diners in the restaurant, which for us was a really positive sign and gave us the impression that the food was genuinely authentic and well-loved. The atmosphere was welcoming, the food was delicious and it was a great choice for a birthday dinner. We’d happily return and would recommend it to anyone looking for Turkish food in Oxford.”

“This was my 4th visit to this restaurant. The quality of the food has been consistent. Impressive Turkish food. The complementary bread is one of the best I’ve had from Turkish restaurants. I ordered the hot meze as a starter, and mixed sheesh for mains. Quite large portion sizes. Fresh salad added to the flavours. Good ambient music, although I found the birthday music was a bit too loud. Great service throughout. Very reasonable price. We had a delightful evening dining at Antep Kitchen, and I hope to make my 5th visit soon.”

“We had a wonderful evening celebrating our daughter’s birthday. The food was absolutely top class, with generous portions, and you could see the passion and care that went into every stage of preparation. A special thank you to our waitress, Laura from Slovakia, who went above and beyond to make the evening truly perfect. She surprised us with delicious Turkish baklava, and when it was served, special music was played while all the guests clapped along. It was such a lovely and memorable moment! ❤️ This is definitely a perfect place to celebrate a birthday with family or friends, and without a doubt, one of the best restaurants in Oxford. A huge thank you to Laura for making Zuzia’s birthday so special! Mariusz, Magdalena & Zuzia ❤️”
