Customer Review Summary
Breakfast and brunch draw the most praise. Reviewers describe a huge range of choices, and one says breakfast runs all day. A kedgeree and a veggie breakfast were called tasty and freshly made, and gluten free options are mentioned. Close behind is the service, which several describe as friendly and attentive. A few enjoyed sitting outside on the terrace in the sun. Beyond breakfast, one diner loved the calzone and the caipirinhas. The criticism centers on value and pace. One reviewer found the shakshuka a small portion with little bread and the feta salad overpriced. The same reviewer objected to an optional service charge added to the receipt. Another called the food average and wished for somewhere to put a jacket or bag while seated outside. A third waited a long time for their food, though they found the team courteous throughout. That table was later brought a complimentary brownie and a birthday wish.

“I loved the Calzone and the Caipirinhas. Nice place and very friendly service provided by Daniel that is very kind and gentle. I will definitely return.”

“Lovely cafe with nice service! The food on the other hand was quite average. We asked the waiter for recommendations and since the menu is very big it would be good to know the top seller or what they are known for. The outside and inside is quite different atmosphere and would have loved to have a space to put my jacket or bag somewhere other than on the floor when we were outside. The outside space is shared with the next door restaurant which was lovely but sadly not sure if we will be back.”

“Best breakfast in Oxford and well worth the walk. Matheus always takes great care of us, huge range of food choices for every mood- plus the breakfast runs all day! They only take walk-ins so you don’t have to worry about booking.”

“We had a really enjoyable visit to this café. The food was delicious, well presented, and definitely worth trying. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and made for a great dining experience. The staff were all very friendly, attentive, and helpful throughout our visit, which we really appreciated. The only downside was the wait for our food, which was a little over 40 minutes. However, the team handled everything professionally and remained courteous throughout. A lovely touch was when they noticed it was someone’s birthday and made the occasion feel special by bringing out a complimentary brownie and wishing them a happy birthday. Small gestures like that go a long way and made the visit memorable. Overall, a great experience and we would happily return.”
