About Green Routes Cafe
Green Routes Cafe is a vegan cafe in Oxford on Magdalen Rd, and the flagship of Routes Coffee Roasters. The menu is fully plant-based and pairs speciality coffee with brunch plates. The Bagel Baby stacks a veggie sausage patty and hash brown in a bagel, with flavoured tater tots on the side. The BLAT is a sourdough sandwich filled with smoked tofu, avocado, tomatoes and vegan mayo, and lemon and blueberry pancakes cover the sweeter side. Baristas at the counter can talk through the week's freshly roasted beans for anyone who brews at home. Tables are spread across three levels, including seating in the basement. The cafe takes walk-ins only, with no bookings. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return most for the Bagel Baby, a bagel filled with veggie sausage patty and hash brown, served with a generous portion of tater tots that several say are flavoured and worth taking home. One reviewer went back the next morning for it, and another debated whether the sausage patty was real meat. Close behind are the lemon and blueberry pancakes, described as fluffy, and a toasted sourdough BLAT with smoked tofu, avocado and vegan mayo. The Big Dev, with tofu in a peppery sauce, also gets a mention. Coffee and oat milk lattes are called great, and portions are described as generous and filling. The recurring drawback is crowding. The cafe gets very busy by late morning, one reviewer says it is popular enough that arriving at opening is needed to get a table, and another found the three seating levels noisy and hard to chat in. One diner who wanted a standard vegan English breakfast did not find one on the menu, but happily chose the BLAT instead.

“This place didn't disappoint. We were here yesterday, and due to go somewhere else for breakfast this morning but the bagel was so good we returned. The bagel has multiple flavours, that you can taste in every bite. The combination just works. It's incredibly popular here. So, make sure you're banging on the door when it opens to ensure you get a table!”

“Lovely plant-based cafe in Oxford, that took a little effort to find but totally worth it! We enjoyed oat milk lattes and their highly recommended Bagel Baby brunch option each served with a stupendous portion of tater tots. We had to take tater tots home with us. All was delicious and filled us up for pretty much the whole day! The cafe has tables on three levels and was somewhat noisy when we went making it difficult to chat really. Loved the food and drinks though so will return for sure!”

“I tried several different breakfast options, and they were all really good. The potato tots were especially delicious! The breakfast portions are also very generous and filling.”

“What a random Google search find this is 😜 very strange, a little bit weird but all in beautifully blended colourful vibes 😉 Honestly went for breakfast expected to have eggs in some sort of nice way and here we go this is a Plant-Based Menu only 🤣 We ordered Bagel Baby and man it's freaking awesome, I even had a real debate with myself if it's real meat sausage patty or is it fake 😜 And if you're not interested in food - coffee is so so so quality great ☕☕☕”

“Great cafe - with a good plant-based menu. I was looking for a normal vegan English breakfast, which they didn't have: but the one I selected - "BLAT" - was a toasted sourdough sandwich, with smoked tofu, avocado, tomatoes and vegan mayo: that was delicious! On this warm day, the basement seating was comfortable. It got very busy towards the later morning today.”
