About Love Coffee Co. High street

Love Coffee Co. High Street is a Greek café on the High Street in Oxford, where the counter leads past a display of Greek desserts and pastries just beyond the till. Bougatsa sits alongside walnut pie and baklava cheesecake there, while Greek and Turkish coffee runs beside the regular espresso drinks, hot and iced coffees, teas, matcha and shakes. The wider menu spans both sweet and savoury, from waffles, crepes and croissants to subs, sandwiches, paninis, soups and salads, with vegetarian and vegan choices throughout. The room is small, with tables set close together, so walk-ins work for singles and couples while a table of four is worth reserving ahead. Seating outside gives the option of eating in the open air, and dogs are welcome. A step-free entrance suits visitors with mobility needs, and high chairs make room for families with young children. The café opens daily, with music playing inside.

Customer Review Summary

The Greek pastry counter just past the till is what reviewers return to most, with one visitor calling the Greek custard pie one of the best things they have ever eaten and others singling out walnut pie and bougatsa. Coffee runs a close second, praised as superb and, in one account, a perfectly brewed large cup of Greek or Turkish coffee, while an iced matcha with red velvet cake and a chai latte also draw mentions. Several remark on the sheer range, from waffles and paninis to vegetarian and vegan options. The recurring complaint is space: two describe the room as cramped when busy and the tables as too small, and one reviewer found the baklava cheesecake lacking in quality and freshness. One regular suggests reserving if a table for four is needed, noting singles and couples manage as walk-ins. Warmth toward the staff runs through nearly every account, including one who was happy to charge a customer's dying phone before a train, and a pair given a bigger table on their second visit that day.

“What can I say? Fantastic customer service. We loved the look of the cafe and called in for a much needed coffee. The young lady on the door was very helpful and friendly, but the star of the show was Ervin. Super-friendly guy who couldn't do enough to help and was only too happy to charge my almost dead phone for me, that I needed to catch the train back to the Midlands. The place itself was buzzing with a host of different accents ringing out from neighbouring tables, enjoying the relaxed atmosphere and of course, their meals. My coffee was superb and my wife's enjoyed her chai latte, which was enhanced by the staff's professionalism. A third member of staff got the door on the way out and wished us a great afternoon. Sometimes, it is the attention to detail that can make a good experience into a great one. Look forward to seeing you again soon! 5*****”

“We recently stayed in Oxford and as we wandering the streets, we popped in to Love Coffee Co as the desserts we could see from the front door looked amazing. We went inside and every single one of the staff were so polite, lovely, and inviting. We only intended to pop in for a quick tea and something small to eat, but we loved it so much we wanted it to be the last place we visited, so we went again the following day before heading home. Their Greek custard pie is one of the best things I've ever eaten. We want to visit Oxford again in the future purely so we can come back to Love Coffee Co!”

“Small but sexy place for coffee. What caught our eye was two things - Variety and Taste. This place has Coffee Tea Shakes, Waffles, Subs, Sandwiches, Soups, Paninis, Salds, Crepes, Croissants, Baklawas and what not. There were a number of vegetarian and vegan options too. And the food including coffee tasted delicious. Ambience was soothing. Highly recommend.”

“We were actually looking for a few other cafés, but unfortunately they were all closed since it was Sunday afternoon. Luckily, this place was open, so we decided to give it a try. They have a really wide variety of options, which was great to see. However, the quality of the baklava cheesecake wasn’t very good, and they didn’t taste fresh. Overall, it was an okay experience, but there’s definitely room for improvement.”

“One of the very best hearted cafe in all Oxford! There are only few cafes in the city where you can taste a perfectly brewed large cup of Greek/Turkish coffee to warm yourself up from the cold air. I also hope to have nice and delicious Kurabies someday here 🫠💖💕”
