About Arumba
Rum leads the list at Arumba, a bar on the Precinct in Royton, Oldham, where spiced rum comes served with coke and more specialised rums sit alongside it. The bar also mixes cocktails to order, including an amaretto sour. Doors open in the afternoon and carry through into the evening, so it suits people calling in after shopping as much as a night out. Music plays, and live singers appear on some afternoons, with a quiz night on the schedule too. Staff work behind the bar and bring drinks to tables, and payment is taken by card. This is a recent opening, with a fitted-out interior. No reservations are taken, so walk in and find a spot. A step-free entrance lets visitors with mobility needs get in without stairs, and dogs are welcome alongside their owners. The bar runs Wednesday to Sunday and stays closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Customer Review Summary
Friendly staff are the most repeated draw, with reviewers calling the bartenders polite, welcoming and attentive to detail with the cocktails. The amaretto sour, described as nice and strong, gets a specific mention, and one rum fan says the more specialised rums are worth the extra money. Close behind are great music and a live singer on a Saturday afternoon, in what one reviewer calls a lovely modern bar, with a tree upstairs that another says is a must for photos. Others mention a coffee, two dart boards, and an afternoon beer after shopping. The complaints are pointed. One reviewer says the door attendants refused entry to him and a former colleague in an empty bar and turned aggressive quickly, while another was surprised by the card bill for three rum and cokes and found the place too expensive for them. A regular notes that splitting the G on a Guinness earns a free pint.

“What a terrible experience me and my former colleague received at the door. The door attendants must realize they are the 'shop window'. They simply wouldn't let us in. We are both former French Foreign Legion and had met up again for the 1st time in 2 years after serving for 5 years together. We were trained to NEVER be aggressive, and keep a cool head at all times. I wish that the doorstep at this establishment could also follow the same mindset. We don't know why,but they obviously didn't want us in there, maybe because we were bigger than them.(failed ego). It was empty, and me and my commerade would have filled the place. Why get so agressive so quick?”
