  “We went out for a family birthday. Drinks came and were great, and the staff were very friendly. It was a Sunday and the party split food between the main menu and the Sunday lunch options. The steaks and starters (butchers platter) were amazing, however the cauliflower soup was inedible, the adult fish and chips was grey, and the roast dinners had boiled potato’s that were grey and shoved in the oven as their roast potato option. Overall would not come back for a roast or on a Sunday, however happy to have the main menu especially the steak. The staff were great but very busy.”

  “Always great to spend some time at The Royal Redgate. The menu is extensive even though we mostly go for the incredible pies! Servers are always attentive and friendly. Today's meal was delicious - steak and ale pie with mash and greens. Served piping hot. Excellent as always.”

  “Went for a lovely birthday meal there was a large group of us, we were accommodated in a nice dining area the service was friendly and the food was very good. Everyone enjoyed there meals and it was a comfortable space. Recommend dining here and if you have a special occasion this would be a good location to host it.”

  “Booked lunch for eight people while on holiday in the area. The Royal Redgate did not disappoint. It had a friendly, cosy atmosphere despite having a lot of tables and it was very busy ( not surprised, the food was excellent). The staff were really great (efficient, pleasant, and fun). The wide ranging menu available on a Sunday was fantastic catering for all preferences on the day. Highly recommend a visit!”

  “A nice traditional pub with a nice atmosphere and trendy decoration. Boasting a strong limited menu, each meal comes with several options for sides and sauces. Although the food did take a little while it was well worth the wait! The meals were well cooked and seasoned and was the perfect amount of food. The chicken and leek pie was very unique with a crusty puff pastry and filled to the top with chicken and bacon. A great experience, will definitely be trying the Royal Redgate again!”

  “First time visiting for food and I can tell you it won't be our last......we will definitely be back. We were seated as soon as we arrived and our drinks order was taken straight away whilst we were left to peruse the food menus. We didn't feel rushed into making a decision (we decided to go with items from the specials menu). We both had the Scallop starter which was cooked to perfection - the scallops literally melted in your mouth....a solid 9/10 from me We differed on the mains - I went for the Sausage & Mash - silky smooth mashed potatoes, 3x sausages which were both succulent and flavoursome, with a side of leeks and a jug of gravy. The other half for the Calzone, generously filled and a side salad - both came with decent portion sizes and were again cooked beautifully - well deserving of an 8.5/10 When offered the dessert menu, we said yes (even though we were full), purely to see if they were as good as the other two courses........(they were) - I had the 3 scoops of ice cream/sorbet (vanilla, Belgian choc & raspberry), the partner had the white chocolate cheesecake and also ordered herself a hot chocolate floater (kudos to the server who approached us with ninja like stealth so as not to spill any). You can't go wrong with 3 scoops but I did manage to have a taste of the cheesecake......beautiful and creamy so another 9/10 for the desserts. The staff were friendly, approachable and had good knowledge of the products on offer - I genuinely struggle to find fault with anything - as I said at the start of this review - we will definitely be back”

  “Love the Redgate! Always pop in for a Pie, as they are delicious (the chicken pie is my fav). Staff are always so friendly and welcoming. A special mention to Elly and Gemma for their great service today! Will be back soon for another pie!”

  “I am giving a 5 star review as I don't think they deserve less. The staff were friendly and the pub was cosey. The food was great, I had the vegan cheesy garlic bread with caramelised onions, it was lovely I would have preferred more cheese. I then had the vegan steak, this tasted great, however, it was not a steak. It was effectively a burger. I think having it on the menu as a steak is misleading, the texture just wasn't there for it to be a steak. It tasted amazing and will make some epic burgers. This steak is homemade and you can tell, if the texture was a more pulled texture as opposed to a minced texture then it would have been perfect. Their homemade peppercorn sauce was great too. For pudding I had the knickerbocker glory, it was nice to have a sundae style pudding. As a vegan that feels like we get the short straw a lot, I did feel very included with this menu, thank you. Definitely worth the visit and would definitely go again.”

  “We ate here yesterday and were totally blown away by the delicious food. I had confit pork belly which was to die for. The handmade chicken burger was also delicious with a thick piece of juicy chicken. I would highly recommend this place and will deffo be back. The staff were also amazing.”
