About Fourwards Restaurant

Fourwards Restaurant is a British restaurant at 4 High St in Leicester, run by owners who have carried their Masterchef: The Professionals appearance onto the menu. The beef fillet "Master Chef" dish is an updated version of the plate they cooked on the programme. A Sunday roast serves beef with roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, seasonal vegetables and gravy, and sticky toffee pudding sits on the dessert menu. Bread is baked onsite. Specials and some sides are written on a blackboard, so the choice extends beyond the printed menu. The restaurant holds tasting-style events, including a cheese and wine night that pairs British wines with locally sourced cheeses. Diners who arrive before their table is ready can wait in the bar area. Reservations are required, and a private dining room is available for groups.

Customer Review Summary

Sunday roast is what most reviewers return for, with diners describing generous portions, rich homemade gravy, crispy roast potatoes and a Yorkshire pudding one calls fantastic. Another declares it the best roast they have eaten. Close behind is the beef fillet, an updated version of the owners' Master Chef dish, along with the lobster crumpet, scallops and daily catch. Bread baked onsite earns praise, with the sourdough and a focaccia described as like a pillow, and sticky toffee pudding features among the desserts. Staff are repeatedly called friendly, and one table credits them with explaining wine pairings and caring for vegetarian and pescatarian needs. The main complaint comes from one Sunday visit that felt disorganised: a wait at the bar while the table sat ready, a menu missing the vegetables and sides written on the wall, roast potatoes with no crisp outside, and a chewy Yorkshire pudding likened to cardboard. Another guest enjoyed a cheese and British wine evening where five local cheeses were paired with five wines.

“This place is a local gem. The food is excellent (we had the daily catch and the Master Chef beef, as mains). Both mains were cooked perfectly, well presented and a generous portion size. The desserts were lovely. We enjoyed three courses plus wine and coffee for £160. Great value for money. The service was attentive and well timed. Overall, a comfortable five stars and a new place, which we expect to visit often.”

“Food was AMAZING! Staff are so friendly and owners are the most loveliest and down to earth people. Whilst on holiday visiting family we decided to go to this restaurant, it didn’t disappoint, and it was most definitely worth it. All the best ❤️ Love Evie and louise xx”

“An absolutely phenomenal experience! We enjoyed the calamari, focaccia, pea tortellini, fish, sticky toffee pudding, and cheesecake. The staff were warm and engaging, sharing wonderful insights into the wine pairings and the sourcing of the ingredients. They also showed great care and attention to our vegetarian and pescatarian dietary needs. The exceptional service perfectly matched the outstanding food. Highly recommended!”

“Absolutely amazing experience at Forward’s Restaurant — a true 5-star visit from start to finish. The service was exceptional and every member of staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and looked after. The cleanliness throughout was also 5-star and really stood out. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner, who was so friendly, warm and genuinely welcoming — it made the whole experience feel even more special and personal. Whether you’re popping in for a drink, enjoying some nibbles, or sitting down for a full meal, this place delivers on every level. The atmosphere, hospitality and attention to detail were outstanding. I can honestly say I’ve definitely found my new local. Can’t wait to come back again — highly recommend to anyone looking for incredible food, fantastic service and a place that makes you feel valued from the moment you walk in.
