Customer Review Summary
The Sunday roast leads the praise, with one diner calling it the best pub Sunday lunch they have had, and others describing meals as piping hot, tasty and cooked nicely. Close behind is the staff, described as friendly, welcoming and attentive without being over the top, with one reviewer singling out the man taking orders as kind. A brownie sundae arriving with a happy birthday tray is one reviewer's highlight. The atmosphere comes across as an old country pub feel, comfortable and quiet enough for catching up with friends, with a nice outdoor area and dogs welcome.

“Update: Since submitting this review, I have been contacted by Greene King and the matter has now been resolved to our satisfaction. We have since visited The Horse and Groom for a meal with friends. We enjoyed the evening and the food. The service was as we would have expected; efficient and friendly. We have visited the Horse and Groom in Moor Green several times, and while the food and service were usually okay, our most recent visit was extremely disappointing. We booked a table of four for my birthday. We waited a long time for our order to be taken and even longer for the food to arrive. My husband’s entire meal was cold, and our friend’s burger and chips were also cold. These dishes were returned to the kitchen and then brought back obviously reheated, without any attention to presentation—the bun and ketchup were hot, but the overall meal quality was poor. The other two meals were inconsistent: chips and peas were lukewarm, while the fish was hot. After finishing, we paid the bill, only to realise later at home that we had been overcharged by nearly £9—charged for full-price coffees in addition to the mini puddings and hot drinks. Unfortunately, the combination of poor service, reheated food, and billing errors ruined our celebration. We will not be returning.”

“This is a nice pub. Doesn't attract a loud crowd which is nice for catching up with friends. The food is always cooked nicely. I've been to some Greene Kings and they seem to butcher the food but the Horse and Groom has great staff. The gentleman that works there taking orders is so attentive and kind.”
