Customer Review Summary
Roast dinners draw the most praise, with reviewers describing Guinea fowl served gluten free, roast pork with excellent gravy and moist, tasty meat, and a roast chicken the kitchen agreed to prepare on request. Burgers come close behind, including a cheeseburger called spot on, a vegetarian burger that went down well and splendid onion rings. Others mention the steaks, minute steaks from the small plate menu and a Torte dessert. Diners describe the staff as friendly and attentive, the service as quick, and the rooms as relaxed and kooky, with a lovely garden outside. One reviewer found the meal a tad pricey given the portion sizes. Another was told the till wasn't working and no orders could be taken, then felt ignored by the person at the till on returning later, and was disappointed to get no update. Several dog owners note the welcome their pets received, with one given a blanket on request and another a bowl at breakfast.

“Best roast we've had! I went for Guinea fowl (gluten free accommodated for!) and the rest of the family had roast pork - the gravy was excellent, the veg had flavour and the meat was tasty and moist. Highly recommend this.”

“I visited Shambles to order some food but was told that the till wasn’t working and that we couldn’t place an order. We returned around 15 minutes later to see if the issue had been resolved, only for the girl behind the till to completely ignore me. I understand that technical issues can happen, but the lack of customer service and basic acknowledgement was really disappointing. The least I expected was to be spoken to and given an update. Being ignored as a customer is unacceptable and left me with a very poor impression of the place. Unfortunately, this experience has put me off returning. I hope the management takes this feedback on board and addresses the standard of customer service.”

“Really good food and excellent service. The staff were wonderful—friendly, attentive, and incredibly helpful. I really enjoyed the experience overall. I did find it a tad pricey, though, especially considering the portion sizes.”

“Visited Shambles today and had the Roast. Well! Shambles by name but not by nature! The food was delicious! The service from staff was amazing, so personal and thoughtful, we had a 4 month old with us and they couldn’t have been more accommodating!! Big Shout out to Jules who was so wonderfully friendly and even asked the chef if he could accommodate my desire for roast chicken which he did and it was one of the best roasts I’ve ever had!! The atmosphere is chilled and laid back with a touch of bohemian magic in the decor!! An absolute gem of a place!!”

“First time visit today. Popped in for lunch, the interior is cosy and the outside garden area is lovely. Nicely shaded for our dog and a lovely breeze blowing through. Food was nice, and the service was smiley and friendly. I asked the young waitress for a blanket for my dog, and she duly provided! Very happy, and we will definitely be back.”
