Customer Review Summary
Battered cod and chips is the centre of the reviews, and opinion on it splits sharply. Positive reviewers say the fish is cooked to order in front of them, so it comes fresh, with generous portions and staff they call friendly and efficient. One describes a huge retirement lunch order that was freshly cooked and delicious, and another calls it one of the best chippies in Newcastle. A parent says their son loved the sausage and chips. The curry sauce, including the Irish curry sauce, is the one thing even some unhappy customers liked. The complaints are more numerous, and several come from longtime customers who say standards have slipped. They describe overcooked, over-battered cod that was mostly batter, and pale, dry or scrappy chips. One diner asked for haddock and says they got something else. Several call it expensive for what arrived, and one describes a greasy sausage and a cashier too busy to serve drinks. One reviewer's curry chip butty arrived with no curry on it.

“Got a home delivery to night £16.30 for large cod and chips, we always enjoy this and it's usually more than enough for me and my husband but tonight the fish was small very little fish, was all batter, the chips weren't the best either so dissapointed expensive for what we got 😞”

“Fantastic Fish & Chip Shop! They dealt with a huge order for a retirement celebration and all the food was freshly cooked to order and delicious, everyone enjoyed their lunch. Many thanks to all the staff at Willow 2!”

“The most pale, bland chips ever. Sausage just greasy with chewy batter. Curry sauce was pretty bland too. First and last time I’ll be there. Stood for ages to be served my drinks that I forgot to get as cashier was too busy talking to someone and folding boxes. May have just not noticed my drinks but that coupled with the poor food, has left an awful taste in my mouth.”
