  “Came here on a Tuesday evening whilst travelling for work. I had the prosciutto and mozzarella to start followed by the spaghetti carbonara for main. I cannot fault either dish, they were both great and probably one of the most authentic carbonara’s I’ve had outside Italy. I would recommend this place to anyone staying in Newcastle. Food, service and atmosphere were all great.”

  “We came here for the pre-theatre menu. I didn't realize it was the oldest Italian in Newcastle. The food was good. Lamb meatballs, chicken and the chocolate cake I can definitely recommend. Price was reasonable too. Service was quick and great. Also try the creme egg martini, I literally finished it with 1 gulp because it was so good.”

  “I left Marco Polo wondering why I had not been sooner. I took advantage of the theatre set menu, which is available at selected times, and at £19.95 it felt like outstanding value. For that price I had a rump steak starter, king prawn, squid and mussel risotto, followed by a chocolate, orange, brandy and hazelnut pot for dessert. Considering the quality and portion sizes, it was genuinely impressive. The food itself was excellent. The risotto was packed with seafood and full of flavour, and everything felt thoughtfully prepared rather than rushed out as part of a set deal. And the dessert nearly finished me off. The chocolate pot was rich, smooth and indulgent. I was very close to licking it clean, but somehow managed to hold back. What truly made the evening though was the staff. They are just lovely. My waiter in particular was warm, attentive and natural, striking that perfect balance between professionalism and personality. I was dining alone, and that kind of service makes a huge difference. Instead of feeling like I was just passing through, I felt genuinely welcome. The restaurant itself is cosy and warm, with an atmosphere that makes you want to stay a little longer. Combined with such friendly service, it turned a simple solo dinner into a genuinely enjoyable experience. I will definitely be returning.”

  “Went to Marco Polo for the first time with a group of my besties. Loved everything about this place. The glorious Italian food and service was impeccable. The chef even shared a little recipe with me. So thankful. And the Pane was superb. Yum.”

  “Absolutely fantastic experience at Marco Polo. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm, stylish and relaxed – perfect for a proper Italian meal. The food was outstanding. The pizzas were cooked to perfection with a beautifully light, crisp base and generous, high-quality toppings. Everything tasted fresh and authentic, and you can really tell the ingredients are top notch. The starters and mains were just as impressive, full of flavour and beautifully presented. Service was friendly, attentive and never rushed, which made the whole evening even better. Drinks were spot on too and paired really well with the food.”

  “I can’t fault this place. From the moment we walked in (with no table reservation) to the moment we left, we were treated well. The food was good and we cleaned our plates! My husband had fettuccine beef ragu from the signature pasta options. I had lasagne. Both were delicious. We also had a mixed salad which was fresh and tasty. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was lovely. Lots of families. Would recommend.”

  “A lovely lunch with my besties recently at Marco Polo They have a pre theatre menu 1 course £11.95 2 courses £15.95. I chose off this menu and got the chicken was absolutely delicious in a lovely creamy parmesan sauce with plenty broccoli. The waiter did recommend me to add a side so I ordered some garlic and rosemary potatoes, Im glad I did this as I dont think it would have been enough with no carbs. My friends did half pizza half pasta- a garlic pesto chicken pizza and a beef ragu pasta, they said the pizza was the best bit. They also do 2 cocktails for £13.95 all day everyday. Would go back and try more of the menu, hadn't been here for a long long time until this week but the food was tasty and lots of choice on menu, cant go wrong!”

  “Absolutely LOVE coming to Marco Polo, the service is exceptional and unfortunately I didn't get her name, but a lady with short blonde hair and blue eyeliner in particular was so lovely to us and made sure everything was okay. The food is gorgeous, the decor is beautiful and I will definitely keep coming back”

  “Booked my table over the phone in advance to arrange my plans to propose to my girlfriend. The staff were incredible. They made sure we were at a visible point and when the time came they assisted me by recording it and brought over a fake brass ring that I planted earlier. The food was incredible, we had the lamb and the salmon, cooked perfectly and ideal for the occasion. I would like to thank all the staff, particularly those of you who made this very special night perfect. We will be back 💯🥰”
