Quick info
About The Daily Grind Cafe
The Daily Grind Cafe is a coffee shop in Newcastle Upon Tyne, on Blucher Rd, where the owners bake the cakes that sit on the counter. Cheesecake and rocky road are among the homemade bakes, so anyone stopping for a coffee can pair it with something made in-house. The savoury side runs to Geordie banger sarnies, with other sandwiches made on fresh bread and a menu that also takes in paninis and soups. Drinks go beyond coffee, with a selection of other options on offer. The owners make the cakes themselves rather than buying them in.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return most for the homemade cakes, with the cheesecake and a rocky road singled out, and several note the cakes are made by the owners and always on the counter. Close behind are the sandwiches, where diners praise the Geordie banger sarnies, fresh poppy seed buns and tasty fillings, along with paninis and soups. Coffee gets steady mentions, and one reviewer says the owner makes a matcha they loved. Perfect runny eggs also earn a mention. Staff are described again and again as lovely, friendly and welcoming, and a few call the little cafe cosy and inviting, with outdoor seating. Some stop in daily, some for an after school treat, others while waiting on a dog at the groomers. No complaints appear in these reviews. One regular who has visited daily since opening says the owners make everything fresh each day, and another admits leaving room for cake.

“This is such a hidden gem. Drinks and food both fab. I have been a few times about a year ago with my boyfriend while we waited for our little dog at the groomers. I was in yesterday grabbing a drink on my break from work. The staff are lovely and the lady that owns it makes an amazing matcha. Would definitely recommend ❤️.”
