Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the friendly, warm welcome from the staff, who greet newcomers and regulars alike in a space described as chilled and comfortable. Coffee comes up repeatedly, with one regular calling it the best in Tynemouth and North Shields. Close behind is the food and drink: the Avo Smash that one reviewer could eat every day, bagel sandwiches, a variety of cakes, an ice tea that tastes like an ice pop, and a peppermint hot chocolate. Several praise the vegan and vegetarian choices, and families mention Saturday football visits and evening events. The one clear complaint comes from a vegan reviewer who ate cheese assumed to be vegan after finding the cafe listed as vegan online, found avocado on most dishes, and said the server looked miserable. Dog owners appreciate bringing their dog after a walk around the park across the road.

“My family and I frequently visit Lui’s and we absolutely love it! The staff are so lovely and friendly; they always give a warm welcome to new customers and their regulars. The coffee is always perfect and the atmosphere is so chilled and comfortable! A lovely community spot just outside of the village 🫶🏼 We’ve also visited for one of their events in the evening and had a wonderful time! It’s so nice to have a place like this so near to home.”

“I went for lunch here today and ended up eating vegetarian rather than vegan!! 😡 I assumed the cheese was vegan cheese. Google displays this cafe when you search for 'vegan cafe' as such. Please place some larger signage stating that it is a vegetarian cafe but vegan is available on request and/or which items are vegan. The menu is also very limited with avocado on most dishes which I don't like and frankly many vegans are sick of. I would expect this level of sloppiness and poor choice from a food outlet which serves meat. Also the server looked completely miserable, like she couldn't be bothered to be there.”

“it’s always lovely here! the vegan options are great, and the ice tea that tastes like an ice pop is delish! i had a peppermint hot chocolate last year that im really looking forward to having again when it gets cooler”

“My absolute favourite cafe in North Tyneside. Luis always welcomes you into a warming atmosphere and you can see the love for what she does. These guys work so hard and it’s great to see late night cafe culture, which I find is rare to come by up here. I could eat the Avo Smash every day and not get tired of it, and it’s a perfect value for money without skimping on quantity or quality. To top it off, they’re maintaining and developing a regular list of social events and activities which is SO needed nowadays.”
