About Sorcerer Coffee

Sorcerer Coffee is a coffee shop in Newcastle Upon Tyne at Arch 4 on Forth St, pairing its coffee with a menu of sub sandwiches. The breakfast sandwich layers a folded egg, cheese, Belly of the Beast hot sauce and a peppery sausage patty in a sesame bun, giving the morning a savoury option beyond pastries. A turkey club sits among the subs for the rest of the day. The coffee is made with Dark Arts beans. The counter carries rotating sweet treats, with a lemon pie among them. “Been our go to coffee shop since September, one of the nicest consistent coffees I have had, you can really tell it’s high quality beans that have robust flavours that you can really taste when drinking, the staff are very friendly and you can have a good laugh with them! The food is outstanding, sausage patty for breakfast 100/10, crispy cannolis, sub sandwiches with great quality bread and ingredients and finally great sweet treats to finish your meal! Definitely would recommend for anyone in the area looking for a hidden gem!”

“After the Sorcerer being recommended to us we called in at 9.30 on a Tuesday morning, bearing in mind that the place is closed on a Monday, to be told they had no toast, bacon, avocado, breakfast patties or Granola!!! They had only subs and they were very limited. It's a shame that they didn't stock up on Monday, granted they did say that they had had a busy weekend but that seems all the more reason to refresh stock when you are closed. As we had paid to park outside we stayed for a coffee and croissant which were tasty but not the breakfast we were hoping for ahead of a fiver hour journey home!!”

“Delicious breakfast roll and a very tasty batch with coffee from Dark Arts. Great service and got a seat in the sun.”

“Best coffee & sandwiches in Newcastle 👌🏼 Friendly staff with good senses of humour if you chat to them. Ps. The breakfast sandwich is probably the best way anyone can spend £6 in this economy.”

“A tremendous and wholly unique spot in the heart of Newcastle. The coffee is top tier and the sandwiches are unlike any other I’ve eaten in the UK. The menu is curated excellently, with seasonal specials and fantastic staples. A personal highlight is the breakfast sandwich - a marvellous blend of folded egg, cheese, signature Belly of the Beast hot sauce and a peppery sausage patty served in a warm sesame bun. Get it with a Dark Arts coffee here to start your day right! There are lots of great sweet treats available here, too, that rotate on the menu in a way that gives the counter a very personal feel. I go into Sorcerer regularly and the staff are always very friendly, the music is always excellent and the atmosphere is consistently wonderful. A real gem of a place!”

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often point to the coffee, singling out the flat white, cappuccino and Dark Arts coffee as consistently excellent, with one describing it as having robust flavours. Close behind are the sandwiches. The turkey club is called massive and packed with flavour, and the breakfast sandwich with its sausage patty gets repeated praise, while one reviewer wants to try the salt beef. Sweet treats also come up, including lemon pie, cannolis and cookies, and the staff are described as friendly and good for a laugh. Some mention the film-themed decor, the music and a window seat in the sun, and one notes limited seating inside. The one real complaint is from a weekday morning visit, when a reviewer was told there was no toast, bacon, avocado, breakfast patties or granola, leaving only a limited selection of subs. They stayed for a tasty coffee and croissant but missed the breakfast they came for. Another reviewer simply calls the breakfast sandwich the best way to spend six pounds.
