Customer Review Summary

Bland food is the most repeated complaint at La Moda, and the lamb shank is the dish reviewers name most. One calls it unbelievably bland, while another ordered it as a main and found the visit just OK. Others describe the food as very bland or very poor and slow to arrive, and one reports overcooked, hard crispy prawns and dry sweet potato fries. Two reviewers describe the manager as dismissive or rude when they raised concerns. Drinks split opinion: one praises the mocktails and coffee for not being overly sweet, while another found the mocktail disappointing and a second report calls the drinks watered down. Praise centers on friendly, welcoming staff and a clean room with good decor, with a few diners singling out a host for great hospitality. Baklava and karak chai get a nod from one diner, and a birthday party enjoyed the freedom to bring their own alcohol. Another birthday table had mixed-up orders and meals arriving at different times. One family found the upstairs section loud, with big screens and a chilly draft.

“⭐ 1/5 – £125 Wasted on Awful Food We spent £125 at La Moda Restaurant and, quite frankly, it was £125 wasted on awful food. I would genuinely rate the food 1/10. The crispy prawns were completely overcooked, hard and unpleasant to eat, it was not freshly made they refried it to heat it up. The sweet potato fries were dry and poorly prepared. The lamb shank was unbelievably bland and flavourless, the rice had absolutely no flavour, and the chicken wings were awful – small, basic and tasted like something that had come straight out of an Aldi packet. For £125, I expect restaurant-quality food. What we received was nowhere near that standard. The biggest problem across practically everything we ordered was the complete lack of flavour and seasoning. It wasn’t just one bad dish – we ordered several different things and were disappointed across the board. We explained this to the manager, but his whole persona and response was basically that there was flavour in the food. As paying customers who had just spent £125 eating it, we were telling him there wasn’t. Instead of listening to our feedback or acknowledging that something may have gone wrong, it felt as though our opinion was simply being dismissed. I understand taste is subjective, but overcooked prawns being hard, dry food and multiple dishes lacking seasoning isn’t just about personal preference. £125 for food that none of us enjoyed is unacceptable. We left feeling like we’d completely wasted our money. Food: 1/10. Value for money: 0/10. Unfortunately, based on our experience, I absolutely would not recommend La Moda for the food and certainly wouldn’t return.”

“Amazing food, excellent service, a beautiful atmosphere, and everything was exceptionally clean. A special thank you to Mr. Omid for being such a great host. One of the best dining experiences I've had. Highly recommend!”

“I had an extremely disappointing experience at this restaurant from start to finish. The manager was unbelievably rude, disrespectful, and completely unprofessional. Instead of trying to resolve issues or treat customers with basic courtesy, they came across as dismissive and arrogant, which ruined the entire experience. Customer service was honestly one of the worst I’ve ever received. The food was nowhere near the quality that was advertised online. The pictures and descriptions on the website and social media are completely misleading. What we were served looked nothing like the promotional photos, and the taste was equally disappointing. Everything lacked flavour, seemed poorly prepared, and definitely wasn’t worth the money we paid. The drinks were just as bad. They were watered down, poorly made, and tasted awful. For the prices they charge, I expected something much better. It felt like they were more interested in taking customers’ money than providing decent food or drinks. Overall, this place relies on fake advertising to attract customers, but the reality is completely different. Between the terrible food, awful drinks, and the manager’s shocking attitude, this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. I would not recommend this place to anyone and certainly won’t be returning. There are plenty of restaurants that actually value their customers and deliver what they promise—this isn’t one of them.”

“Nice place for a warm tea or sheesha. The ambience is nice with a variety of seating options indoors and outdoors. The food is very poor, bland and takes a long time to be served. I would not recommend going her for the food.”

“Had such an amazing birthday celebration at this lovely Iraqi restaurant in the UK! The food was absolutely incredible — full of rich, authentic flavours that made the whole experience so special. What truly stood out, though, was the hospitality. Varni took such great care of us throughout the evening — warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. She made sure everything was perfect and really went the extra mile to make my birthday feel special. If you’re looking for delicious Iraqi food and outstanding service, I can’t recommend this place enough. Thank you, Varni, for making the night so memorable! 🎉✨”
