About Galu Mediterranean Bar & Grill
Galu Mediterranean Bar & Grill is a Mediterranean restaurant in Banstead, on Nork Way, with a stone-walled dining room furnished in snake skin and an open charcoal grill. Steak is cooked on that grill, and the sirloin sits among several steak dishes. Starters include homemade dips served with bread from Cyprus, and seafood dishes appear among the mains. The menu gives plenty of choice across starters and mains. The family runs the restaurant, and the owners work the floor. Reservations are required. Desserts include a date sticky toffee pudding.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return most for the food from the open charcoal grill, with the steak and sirloin steak named repeatedly as tender and full of flavour. Close behind come the seafood dishes, including scallops, octopus, seafood tagliatelle, sea bass and prawns, along with meatballs and homemade dips served with bread from Cyprus. Desserts get their own praise, with the date sticky toffee pudding and a rich, creamy cheesecake singled out. Staff are described as friendly, attentive and relaxed, putting diners under no pressure, and a few mention the owners making a family celebration feel welcome. Several call it a good fit for a romantic night out or date night, and one says the menu is varied and fairly priced. The only caution is a single note that the restaurant can get busy, though the service keeps everything flowing. Many describe it as a new favourite, and one diner says the staff made sure everyone was happy with the food and stopped to chat.

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Brilliant first visit – we’ll definitely be back! Visited Galu in Banstead for the first time and it completely exceeded our expectations. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm, stylish and welcoming — relaxed yet with a lovely lively buzz. The food was excellent. We tried the steak, which was cooked perfectly on the open charcoal grill — tender, full of flavour and beautifully presented. For dessert we shared the cheesecake, which was rich, creamy and the perfect way to finish the meal. Generous portions and really high-quality ingredients throughout. Service was friendly, attentive and professional without being overbearing. The staff were genuinely helpful with recommendations and made us feel well looked after the whole evening.”
