  “Not the best steak I’ve had from Tomahawk. We got the Tomahawk sharing board. Meat was chewy, overcooked and very fatty (unpleasant to eat). The desserts were nice but quite sickly. The environment was uncomfortable and loud with limited space on small tables for plates, drinks and the sharing board. We had to get up every time someone wanted to get past and they struggled with the small gap between the tables. We struggled to get the attention of the servers to order and to get more drinks with other similar sized groups arriving after us and leaving before us. For such a nice looking venue this was a big disappointment and we won’t be returning to this location.”

  “The staff were lovely, our server was very kind. The building and interior was beautiful. We went for the £10 lunch and the food was delicious especially for the price. I got the steak and fries. I upgraded to the truffle fries and wouldn’t necessarily recommend those, they didn’t come with a truffle sauce, it was essentially normal fries with a little bit of Parmesan cheese and a tiny bit of truffle. Tried a bit of someone else’s Mac and cheese and it was good especially for £5. I also ordered the drumstick cocktail which was pretty good.”

  “Writing on behalf of my parents. For christmas i purchased them afternoon tea for 2 and they used their voucher when they visited on the 12th June. They prebooked their table and mentioned in advance of the booking they had a voucher. When they arrived 2pm they were seated and my parents asked if they could have their sandwiches without the horseradish on the beef and mustard on the ham and requested plain sandwiches without these sauce additions. They were told no, this could not be done because the sandwiches were made ready that morning!!! My parents complained and asked why they had been made 6hrs in advance of their arrival and the server argued well you said you had no allergies when booking, ok but that doesnt mean they want to order food they do not like. They asked if this cant be done then could they exchange the cost of the voucher for something else on the menu and were told no, they would have to pay extra (not an issue) but the extra would have to be paid on the same payment card which was used to by the voucher, which they could not do as it was a gift.. The server spoke to the chef and them came out and said the chef would allow the change on the sanwiches and brought them their pot of tea. They then had to wait another 30mins for their food. When the afternoon tea came out it was not as advertised. They got sandwiches scones, a macaron, a plain cheesecake bite, small cookies sandwiched with butter cream and a Victoria sponge with jam and buttercream. All finger options, and none were as listed in the menu. My folks questioned the afternoon tea as the voucher i had bought them stated it came with the addition of a small cup of soup. The server argued it was because i had bought it 6months ago at christmas and the menu had changed. However the menu remains the same on the website and includes chicken bites but my parents did not see this at the time. When they afternoon tea came the bread was stale and it was clear that there was something wrong.. none of the sandwiches were buttered just dry stale bread and meat. They used the butter for the scones to butter their own sandwiches. They then went to the bar and asked for more tea as they had drnk it before their food arrived, were no servers about and also asked for more butter for the scones because they had to make their own sandwiches. They then asked for a box to take the deserts home in as they did not want to stay any longer. The server they asked the box for was then seen getting into his car and leaving, so after 15mins they requested a box again from the bar "again no servers". So all in all staff were awol, sandwiches were made on the morning, then again on stale unbuttered bread, they did not get their full afternoon tea as advertised and did not get the deserts which were advertised. Deserts they got were clearly not fresh and likely bought in and put together. When they got home and ate their deserts the scones were rockhard (clearly heated up for service to make them appear fresh) and plain / tastless. My parents went to leave and had to go to the server at the bar to complain and show their voucher too, the servers option as an apology was not to charge them for the service charge, which surely is optional anyway and wouldnt gave been paid given the fact the afternoon tea was horrible and service non existant. I wonder what option of food they would have been given if they paid on the day and not with a pre paid "in full £60" voucher. I feel disappointed that this is the way my parents were treated and this is the service and standard of food they were given for what was a gift for them which was £60. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone.”

  “Just had a wonderful meal at Tomahawk! The food was spot on; the Rump Steak and Chicken Parmo were perfect, just how I like them, and the Garlic Bread was a tasty treat too. The service was top-notch, with a warm welcome and attentive staff who made sure we enjoyed everything. I love this place and honestly think they should open another one in Whitby. Can't wait to come back!”

  “We visited on Friday to celebrate our sons 18th birthday and had such a wonderful experience from start to finish. The staff were welcoming, attentive and genuinely kind, which made the whole evening feel relaxed and special for our family. Many of us hadn't visited before, but after this experience it certainly won't be our last time. I also wanted to personally thank the team for how comfortable they made me feel. I have an eating disorder which makes eating out very stressful, but the team were understanding, discreet and never made me feel awkward or self-conscious. That kindness made a huge difference and allowed me to enjoy the evening properly. We all had a fantastic time celebrating such an important milestone, and I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great food, lovely atmosphere and exceptional service.”

  “Me and my daughter popped in for a quick desert. Tables were fully booked but Emma allowed us to use one as I promised to be only 20 minutes. Fantastic customer service, any other place would of turned us away but she didnt. My daughter was happy so I was happy. Great service, great desert and it was a great start to our friday evening. Thank you.”

  “Came with a group of six. Grand looking building as you walk in. And really nice rooms. But from then on it was disappointing, 6 drinks were made wrong in total, wrong beers brought to the table, wrong mixers, ask for a lime every time I ordered a drink and every time is came with a lemon. We all enjoyed our starters but the mains all steaks were over cooked, one steak was ordered blue and the chef asked and checked and it still came out medium well 🤔 lobster tail side came out tougher than a old leather boot had jaw ache after eating one! Didn’t all get eaten so waste of £20 Staff seem uninterested and itching to run away from the table before you can ask for more drinks.”

  “Absolutely loved our visit here. The quality of food and drinks was truly outstanding. Believe me you would pay 2 or 3 times the cost anywhere else in the country. The venue is beautiful and it's great that Acklam Hall was saved and not bulldozed like a lot of all other great buildings in Middlesbrough. A big shout out to Michael, our waiter who made the meal even more special and was such a good laugh and all the other staff were great as well. As Arnie nearly said " we'll be back"”
