Quick info
About Llangeinor Arms
Llangeinor Arms is a gastropub on Llangeinor Rd in Mid Glamorgan, with a terrace and a glass conservatory seating area that both look out over the valley. Sheep sometimes wander out the front, so the view includes a bit of the surrounding farmland life. The menu includes a BBQ chicken stack, sirloin steak and steak and ale pie, with chips made from scratch in the kitchen. Sunday lunch comes with a choice of beef, turkey or lamb. Dogs are welcome. The pub opens Tuesday to Sunday and closes on Mondays. Payment is accepted by card as well as cash.

Customer Review Summary
Views over the valley draw the most praise, with reviewers singling out the terrace, the glass front, and the occasional sheep out front. Close behind are the homemade chips and the steak, one reviewer calling it the best in years, another pairing the sirloin with the BBQ chicken stack. Staff are described as welcoming, friendly, and attentive, with one noting nothing was too much trouble. The kitchen divides opinion sharply, though. One diner found the Luxury Nut Roast tasted like packet mix and the chips rubbery. Another found the BBQ chicken stack cold and rubbery with unmelted cheese, plus undercooked chips and frozen fish fingers, and reports worrying it might make them ill. A Sunday lunch diner called the trifle runny with unset jelly and felt rushed. Another says mains arrived before starters and a steak missed the requested medium rare. One reviewer was told the only sauce for the nut roast was tomato ketchup.

“Stumbled on by accident, what an amazing setting food was beautifully cooked with a really warm welcome. Nothing was to much trouble and the best steak I've eaten in years.”

“Sorry but I can't eat a lot at all. (Which puts us off going out for food) however I asked if it was possible to have just a piece of corn beef pie. The special was cornbeef pie chips and peas for £14.99. extra £1.50 for gravy. They agreed which I very much appreciated. My husband ordered a full meal. My piece of pie cost me £9.99 plus £1.50 for gravy. I couldn't even eat the whole pieces of pie. Sorry but I just should have ordered the whole meal and wasted it. Sorry but we won't be back, even if the gravy was free would have helped.”

“Went for Sunday lunch, not a great deal of choice. Beef or turkey £2 extra for lamb. Everything felt rushed, the minute we got our drinks they wanted to take our food order I hadn't even looked at the menu at that point. The meal wasn't great, my sister and I were disappointed,my brother thought it was ok. The trifle was probably the worst one I have ever had, runny custard, jelly not set and hardly any fruit. Chef needs to have a few more cooking lessons”

“Stunning views over the valley at a local independent pub. The kind that still makes their own chips from scratch. A seat on their terrace or glass front-of-house can't be beaten on a rare sunny afternoon in South Wales. Occasionally see a few sheep out the front. Will be back for food and drink.”
