Customer Review Summary
Large portions are what reviewers raise most at this Llangynwyd pub, and one diner could not finish a steak and ale pie while another points to the small eaters section of the menu. Reviewers describe hearty, home cooked food, friendly and welcoming staff, a cozy pub with plenty of character, and a good range of spirits and draft beers. A few mention marking family occasions there, such as a birthday and a golden wedding anniversary, and one suggests calling ahead because it is popular. The picture is not uniformly positive. One reviewer found the spiced chicken curry sweet, described the sundaes as tubs of ice cream in a glass, and noted slow ordering and a kept deposit for a child who could not attend, despite a table of five being used. Another reports that a party of ten fell ill after a Christmas meal and that the landlord refused a refund. Meanwhile, one happy diner rebooked for Monday while still at the table.

“Food wasn’t great- I ordered the spiced chicken curry and it was a sweet chicken curry. The sidoli deserts were advertised as icecream sundaes, they were just freezer pots of icecream slotted inside a sundae glass with cream on top. The service was a bit slow with taking our orders etc. We paid a £30 deposit for a family of 6. One child couldn’t come due to illness and they wouldn’t allow us to use the full £30 off our bill. They said because the child didn’t turn up we have lost the £5 deposit despite being sat on a table for 5. We spent over £100 at the restaurant and they kept the £5. We won’t be returning again and I won’t recomend it to others.”

“Xmas 2025 Family party of 10 All got diarrhoea for 5 days, 2 with vomiting One of us gave sample to Environment Health - Came back as Clostridium Paciferens - associated with poor temperature control of cooked food. Outbreak involving many other customers confirmed Party Leader then asked for refund of costs of meals Landlord refused and threatened us with his solicitor Since when he has been telling all his regulars that he has refunded everybody who was affected”
