About The Banyan Tree
The Banyan Tree is a family-owned independent bistro in Castlefield, Manchester, running as a bar and café from Unit 3 since 2008. Its brunch menu centres on eggs, avocado and halloumi, and the Banyan croissant is one of the dishes ordered at brunch. Roast dinner is also on the menu as Sunday lunch. The bar mixes cocktails, including espresso martinis, and the drinks list adds coffee, beer and wine. Quiz and comedy nights give the place an events side, and games are available to use at the table. Downstairs, private hire rooms can be booked for meetings or karaoke, which suits groups.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often return for the roast and Sunday dinners, which several call unreal and among the best they have had. Close behind is the Banyan croissant, singled out as a favourite at brunch alongside eggs with avocado and halloumi and freshly brewed coffee. Others name the chef's pie of the week, beef burger, sticky toffee pudding, fish, chips and mushy peas, Korean chicken with seasoned fries, and espresso martinis. Cocktails are also praised, including one made off the menu on request. Staff are repeatedly described as lovely, friendly and attentive, and one reviewer says the team looked after a peanut allergy and gluten sensitivity. Several appreciate that dogs are welcome, and the comedy night gets a mention. The one critical review describes a brunch where a corner table was too tight to reach, the party was moved to a four-person table, and the order seemed to be missed while later arrivals were already eating. Reviewers also mention lively weekends and downstairs rooms used for karaoke.

“Had the most amazing Sunday lunch at the Banyan Tree! The Sunday dinner was honestly up there with one of the best I’ve ever had. The service was fast, professional, and all of the staff were so lovely and helpful, they genuinely couldn’t do enough for us. The atmosphere was brilliant and the food was unreal. Massive bonus points for being pet friendly too! We’ll definitely be back and would highly recommend the Banyan Tree to anyone looking for incredible food, great atmosphere, and amazing staff.”

“Today I thought i’d try out a new food spot and heard good reviews from The Banyan Tree! I ordered the Korean Chicken with seasoned fries and Coke! The food was delicious and the service from Joella was very kind & attentive! I am very impressed and will be returning soon!”

“We visited for brunch as a party of two. Despite other available tables, we were first seated at a corner table that was too tight to access, as the seat was blocked by a guest at the neighboring table. We did not accept this arrangement and were then moved to a four-person table. After placing our order (which was later reconfirmed by staff), we experienced a long wait while other guests who arrived after us were already eating. It seemed our order may have been missed. Overall, it was a disappointing experience.”
