About Mancoco Coffee Bar, Roastery & Barista Training School

Mancoco Coffee Bar, Roastery & Barista Training School is a coffee shop in Manchester, set in the railway arches at 85 Hewitt St. The business has hand-roasted single-origin coffee since 2012. Its roastery in Arch 85 sits beside the coffee shop in Arch 84, so the espresso drinks poured at the bar come from beans roasted a few steps away, with sandwiches and sweet treats on the side. The roastery arch also holds a purpose-built training area, where the barista school works with coffee shops, offices and members of the public. Inside the shop, a seating counter runs through the middle of the room, with a small number of booths and wooden tables around it. Freshly roasted beans are sold by the bag, including the Manchester Blend and the Espresso Blend.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the coffee itself, and the Manchester Blend beans lead the praise, with buyers calling them fresh and well suited to a flat white or home espresso machine. The Espresso Blend gets a mention too. Close behind, diners name a flat white, a Long Black and the house roast espresso as standouts, while one reviewer favours the V60 pot and another calls the sandwiches tasty with generous portions. Staff are described repeatedly as friendly and welcoming, and the interior is called stylish, with wooden tables and lo-fi music. The main complaint is seating. One regular says they can't get a seat half the time because people on laptops stay for hours on a single coffee, and has started going to another cafe instead and spends far less than before. Another notes train noise from the railway arches. Even so, a loyal beans customer describes being served immediately and leaving with freshly roasted beans to go.

“I bought a bag of the Manchester Blend beans, and it’s honestly one of the best coffees I’ve had. The beans are incredibly fresh, beautifully roasted, and produce a smooth, rich cup with great flavour. The staff were also very friendly and welcoming, making the whole experience even better. You can tell they really care about quality. I’ll definitely be coming back for more. Highly recommended! ☕”

“A must-visit place for coffee lovers, offering a variety of options to choose from. My favorite item is the V60 coffee pot, which produces a cold brew with different flavours. The sandwiches are also very tasty, with generous portions at a fair price. The atmosphere is pleasant, though there are train noises. Overall, I highly recommend visiting this place.”
