Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the friendly, welcoming staff, with baristas who talk through the coffee beans and a server described as bubbly. One gluten free diner credits a team member with walking them through the menu and making switch outs for a delicious chicken club sandwich. Coffee comes close behind: an iced V60 with clear fruity notes, a smooth latte with latte art, the house decaf, and beans some buy to take home. The Egg Buoy on a butter-toasted brioche bun, french toast, salmon and eggs, pan au chocolat and soft serve also earn mentions, and several describe a laptop and headphones crowd. Prices are the recurring complaint, with a few calling the menu expensive for what it is. Two reviewers found iced drinks, an iced latte and an iced chai, weak and watery. One describes a counter worker chatting with a customer while the queue grew long, then serving without much warmth. Even so, one regular notes that kitchen staff say hi when they can.

“I'm fortunate enough to have Bold Street be my regular spot for coffee/lunch whilst at work. Usually I'm after a good filter coffee and somewhere use my laptop which is for sure provided here but the outstanding quality of Bold Street is the staff friendliness. I've been coming to Bold Street for almost a year and the highlight of my work day is coming into the cafe and being greeted with warmth and some good chat. The team seems very much like a family, have a had some stun service from Holly, Charlie, D'naje, Flynn, Connor, Adam and Hannah - even the kitchen staff are good vibes and will say hi when they can. Also they play great music - and the soft serve is delicious.”

“Had such a lovely experience at Bold Street Coffee. As someone who is gluten free it can sometimes be difficult to find good options but they made me a fantastic gluten free chicken club sandwich that was absolutely delicious. A special thank you to Conner who was so helpful talking me through the menu suggesting suitable options, and making switch outs to suit my dietary requirements. Nothing felt like too much trouble and the customer service really stood out. I’ll definitely be back and would highly recommend to anyone especially if you’re gluten free!”

“We visited during an university open day, it was so busy everywhere and the weather was hot. Staffs were lovely, food were also nice. The prices are a little bit expensive, the chicken bagel cost £11, the breakfast I think it was £17. Plus drinks order on top. I had a chai iced drink, it was a little bit watery and weak to me. Location is defo convenient.”

“I visited Bold Street Coffee at University Green at 11:15 am on 26 June. It’s conveniently located just off Oxford Road, close to University Place, making it an easy stop for students and staff. The café serves a selection of coffees, breakfast sandwiches and pastries in a modern setting. Unfortunately, my visit was disappointing. The biggest issue was the service. The member of staff at the counter spent around five minutes chatting with the person in the queue they appeared to know which caused to queue to grow excessively long during that period. When I was eventually served, the interaction wasn’t particularly friendly or welcoming. The coffee was equally underwhelming. My iced latte cost £4.90, which feels exceptionally expensive, especially given the quality. It tasted very weak and overly diluted by the ice, lacking the richness and strength you’d expect at that price point. Overall, this was a poor experience. Between the inattentive service, disappointing coffee and high prices, I don’t feel it offers good value for money, particularly given the number of excellent independent coffee shops in the Oxford Road area”
