Quick info
About The Oddfellows Arms
The Oddfellows Arms is a hostel and bar at 4 Manchester Rd in Manchester, with an on-site pub that runs karaoke nights on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Live bands, open mic, pool, darts and quizzes fill out the rest of the entertainment, and the bar opens in the evenings on most nights. It pours beers on tap and bottled, alongside wines, ciders and sodas, and hostel members get a discount on alcohol. Guests can book a dorm bed or a private or double room. Breakfast is self-cook, with cereals, crumpets, bacon, sausages and eggs prepared in pans on a stove, and the downstairs lounge doubles as the breakfast area. Dogs are welcome, so travellers can bring a pet along. A bus runs into Manchester city centre, and convenience stores, Tesco and ASDA are a short walk away.

Customer Review Summary
Most reviewers single out the owner, describing him as friendly, helpful and welcoming, with one saying he went above and beyond and another that he puts guests' needs ahead of his own. Close behind is the free breakfast at this hostel pub, described as a buffet where guests cook bacon, sausages, eggs and mushrooms, with crumpets, chocolate filled pancakes and cereals on offer, while another reviewer mentions a full fry up. Guests also praise clean washrooms, comfortable beds, hot showers and a bar with karaoke, a live band on a Friday, pool, darts and quizzes. Several call it good value compared with central Manchester. The complaints are specific. One guest was kept up all night by footsteps in the hallway and noise from neighbouring rooms, and a one-night guest found the laundry dryer broken. A reviewer who came for open mic found only one lager on, which ran out, with only pint glasses available for bottled lager and a vodka, and a front door that looked shut at 7pm while passersby knocked.

“As expected for the price and perfectly fine for a short stay. The owner is very friendly and professional, gives you all information you need, and I can tell he works hard and is passionate about running this place.”

“Nights Stayed: 1 I usually don't write reviews, but I feel this is a good place to start writing. Overall experience, this hostel was worth the money spent for sure. The hostel offers plenty of services for the price. They also do laundry service, but it seems like they were backed up when I was there. (Dryer broke) Don't rely on it, but it's nice to have the option when it's available. The vibes at the bar are immaculate. A live band was playing on the Friday night I was there, and the bar has karaoke Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday (shame that I couldn't be there for that). If you drink alcohol, 10% discount for being a hostel member. Pete is the 🐐. Owner of the place, if you need anything you can ask him. Kind and caring, the glue that holds this place together.”

“Stayed here for a couple of night and was kept up all night. Could hear everything from the room. People next room having sex, footsteps in the hallway, footsteps in the bathroom in the next room just to name a few.”

“Booked in 9th of January 2026 and stayed until 21st January 2026 This is the best hostel pub I have ever stayed in and I have travelled extensively in my life. I booked a Dorm room which was great nice mattresses and clean and then decided an upgrade to a double room this had TV coffee station sink towels lovely bed and heating. Bathrooms are great shower water lovely and hot There's a lounge area downstairs that also served as the breakfast area The Breakfast is 5star Cereals, oat bars, flavoured milks, crumpets, hot cross buns , chocolate filled pancakes , brown and white bread. Bacon, sausages ( and or chicken pieces) eggs mushrooms tomatoes, yogurts, butter, cheeses, cream cheeses Coffee tea sugar, there's even wet wipes to clean All of this you can cook in pans provided on the glass topped 2 plate stove .....unbelievable Also the Bar is open from 7pm most nights that's super, Karaoke nights pool darts quizzes plus a selection of beers on tap and bottled, wines ,ciders ,sodas The owner Pete has a great personality and a class act in the hospitality he really wants to make you feel special and comfortable and he goes out of his way to make you feel at home It's also very safe with codes for the main front door and door to the hostel itself. I will definitely go back and do weekends when Manchester utd or City is playing enjoying a relaxing weekend with beer and that breakfast ! I really couldn't find fault with this gem of a place plus the no 8 bus runs every 15 min to and from Manchester there is also a massive ASDA 5 mins away ..... For the price per night its value for money and Fridays there is happy hour I got Carsberg from the tap under £3 You won't go wrong booking here trust me you will enjoy it”
