Customer Review Summary
Diners most often praise the food, with the steak and ale pie, scampi, a large burger and a gammon with mushrooms, chips and pineapple singled out, and a roast and salt and pepper chips also earning compliments. Several describe the dishes as hot, cooked perfectly and gorgeous. Close behind is a friendly atmosphere and attentive staff, with reviewers crediting a new manager for improving things, bringing colouring for the children and offering to warm a baby's milk. The caveat is consistency. Several reviewers find the food under-seasoned, mentioning a chicken schnitzel with no salt and a beef pie that tasted like pork. One festive booking describes a dried-out burger, hard roast potatoes, and waits of over twenty minutes between courses. Others note a table served three meals when four were ordered, with no cutlery or napkins. One lunch visitor left early because unsupervised children were running and screaming around the restaurant side.

“What a difference the new manager has made. Staff seem happier, and we've just had a lovely meal with the kids. Food was gorgeous, and the new manager Sophie was so attentive, brought our daughter things to entertain her. We will definitely be making it a regular place to come again now, as it had gone downhill. Seems to be on the up! 100% give it a try!”

“I've not been for a meal for a few years as it became a little hit & miss. The food today was fine & the serving staff were attentive. We went for a late lunch on a Thursday afternoon. The issue was a group of children (approx aged 7-11) running around the restaurant side. Screaming, dancing, doing handstands & playing music on phones. The parents in another part of the pub were equally loud & providing minimal amount of oversight to the children. This experience was really off putting so we ate quickly & left. We won't be returning to the playground sadly.”

“Really nice atmosphere. The two young ladies who served us were extremely pleasant, efficient, and helpful. The meals were exceptionally good, and the portions were well placed on the plate to make the dish look appetising as well as tasting great, too. We had a mix of meals. One had steak and ale pie, which he said is the best he's had. One had scampi and said the portions were not scrimpy. Another had the burger, which was so big it kept falling apart. I had the gammon, which was cooked to perfection and served with mushrooms, chips, and pineapple (2 rings). All in all, it was a really great meal.”
