Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the welcoming staff and the old-fashioned character of this two-floor pub, with several describing a warm room and a real sense of history, plus occasional ghost tales. The real ales and lagers draw repeated praise, with one reviewer calling the ales served in top condition and another noting a superb selection of beers. Food earns steady approval too, with fish and chips and a club sandwich named alongside Guinness and cider, and a breakfast described as great value. One reviewer finds the food not the cheapest around, while another calls the prices very reasonable. A few mention a good wine list, a fire to sit beside, and free Manchester quiz sheets. The pub can get busy at weekends, and one group used it for a retirement party after a meal elsewhere. The one clear complaint comes from a regular who says the cider has recently been served with ice added, and on the latest visit half the drink was ice, though they never asked for it.

“Stopped off here with a few friends after a day's shopping in town. Great little pub, 2 floors and the grub was top notch. We were looked after by Anne-Meraid who was lovely and ever so helpful. Nice to visit a place with a bit of character. We will return !”
