About The Alchemist New York Street
The Alchemist New York Street is a cocktail bar and restaurant in Manchester, at 1 New York St. Its drinks come from a molecular mixology bar, and the cocktails are served with dry ice that spews over the table, so the drink arrives as a small show. The food menu is themed around salt and pepper dishes. It includes a salt and pepper chicken basket, also called the Nashville Chicken Basket, and salt and pepper fries. A KitKat bubble waffle covers dessert. The team recommends drinks and dishes from the menu. A DJ plays music in the room.

Customer Review Summary
The chicken basket is the dish reviewers name most, in both the salt and pepper and Nashville versions, with one group saying their starters were eaten with nothing left over. Close behind are the cocktails, praised as unique, with margaritas, the bananarama and the oyster shots named specifically. The wings, a Nashville burger, a plant based AFC flatbread and the KitKat bubble waffle also earn praise. Servers are repeatedly described as friendly and welcoming, recommending drinks, including for a second round, and checking about dietary restrictions. A DJ and the decorations get a mention too. The main complaint is volume. One reviewer says the music was way too loud and they could not hear what anyone was saying, while another calls the room a little loud but not too much. One also finds the cocktails on the expensive side, though the presentation is great. Another says the dry ice spewing across the table left them feeling a little silly and stared at.

“Really fantastic experience last night. Staff were extremely attentive, checked in about dietary restrictions and the drinks tasted fantastic. The manager Lucy made a point of coming over to make sure everything was positive and made recommendations. Salt and Pepper chicken basket was delicious, and the margaritas even better. Made it a very special evening, will definitely be back!”

“Another visit to Manchester wouldn’t be complete with a visit here. Food is excellent. Service is amazing (Poppy this time). Drinks top notch even though you do feel a little silly when all the dry ice spews all over the table and you get stared at. Would really recommend visiting here. I’m coming back!!”

“service was especially excellent from our waitress mariana (couldn’t excalty read the handwriting) but she was great, even recommended us drinks for our second round and everybody was super duper pleased with their choices like everyone was like wow this is such a me drink! very cool effects as usual, and props to her for being so welcoming and telling us all about our drinks. we had a round of shots then two rounds of drinks over the span of 3 hours and they were all lovely. highly recommend the oyster shots if ur a citrus girlie! monday nights are definitely quieter, which was great for us because we had much to catch up on.”
