About Brewdog DogHouse Manchester Bar & Rooftop

Brewdog DogHouse Manchester Bar & Rooftop is a bar on Fountain St in Manchester, with a ground-floor bar downstairs and a rooftop bar upstairs. Hotel rooms sit above the bar, and a beer school is offered on site. The downstairs taps number 30, and the craft beer selection includes sours, ciders and collaboration beers. Guest breweries appear in a regular line-up of showcases. The food menu runs from the Pit burger, a pork-loaded burger, to chicken wings and Korean chicken strips, and an unlimited wings deal is offered. Bottomless brunch comes with a full English, and an upgrade adds cocktails and prosecco. Tables can be booked, and reserved tables carry the booking name.

Customer Review Summary

The complaints are about service and consistency. Diners with booked tables describe no greeting, drinks arriving long after ordering, and being told only when they asked that a beer tower or another drink was unavailable. One says the ordering QR code pointed to an app that did not exist. Another reports the unlimited wings night running out of wings, while one reviewer found the wings mostly hard batter and a pit burger served without its pork. A brunch seeker was told it had finished despite the menu's listed hours. Managers' replies were repeatedly "we're busy.

“Went on a Wednesday for the ‘unlimited wings’ deal. We were there for 1 hour 30 minutes, but only got 4 servings of wings. On a past visit, in the same time, we got at least 6. Some of the wings brought out also didn’t match what we ordered. When we mentioned this to staff, they apologised. They said a group of 10 at another table kept them busy, and that they’d run out of wings to serve. But the rest of the restaurant was quiet, so that didn’t really explain it. And if the deal is called ‘unlimited’, running out shouldn’t happen. They offered us a free drink, but we were already leaving, so we didn’t take it. We still paid full price. Disappointing for what’s meant to be an ‘unlimited wings’ night.”

“Came to try new brunch menu at noon and was told it was finished even though it says until 3pm on the menu! Burger very average - good beer and friendly service at least”

“Absolutely appalling visit here and ruined our night out. Booked a table for 4 of us for 7pm. Walked in and waited to be seated, nobody approached us, although staff passed us several times. No acknowledgement that we were stood there, no welcome or be with you soon. My husband then started to walk around and found a reserved table with our name on, so after standing there for a while, we sat at the table. We then proceeded to try and get the waiter's attention to order some drinks. This was impossible, waiting staff kept walking past our table with no eye contact, no hello, be with you in a minute. At 7.30..35 minutes after arriving, one of us got up and followed a waiter to ask if we could order, his reply was what is your table number. Told him and he came over 5 minutes later and took both our drinks and food order. At 8pm, a full hour after sitting down, 2 drinks arrived, no food. The waiter said the beer tower that two of us ordered wasn't available and the food would be another half an hour!! Why didn't he tell us the drinks weren't available half an hour ago when we ordered, so we could choose something else, not just bring 2 drinks for 4 people. No apology or anything. So, an hour waiting for drinks and an hour and a half for food when we've booked a table for 7pm. Not good enough. Don't take bookings if you can't fulfill and employ staff that actually give a damn about customers. The manager on duty last night (Friday 17th) , his answer to me complaining and leaving at 8pm was, well we're busy. My advice is don't bother going here, I've never experienced such a couldn't care less attitude in a restaurant in my life.Take your hard earned money elsewhere.”

“We had a table booked last night for 7pm, it was very busy, no one came over to us at the door so we found our reserved table. We could see that there was a QR code on the table for ordering, so we attempted this but for some of us, it was saying the app you needed to download didn’t exist, so we asked if someone could come and take our order, thank god we did this and didn’t pay on the app before. Drinks never came over, we asked a staff member after half an hour and he said he would check on them. After 10 more minutes, he went and made them himself but came over to tell us he didn’t have one of the drinks we had ordered. We asked how long food would be and he said at least another half an hour. Like I said, it was busy. There’s a deal currently on so I understand that staff are rushed off their feet but where has common sense gone? Why are we only being told after 30 minutes, and after having to ask, that they don’t have one of the drinks we had ordered? And then even though the same server took our order, he never mentioned any wait on food at all, until we asked. From working in these jobs, it used to be common to tell tables that there’s a wait on food so they could decide whether to wait that long. But to sit there for 40 minutes in a bar without a drink is crazy. We did have a quick word with a staff member and a manager but just got, “it’s busy.” You clearly want everyone to order everything themselves on an app so that staff have less pressure on them, but if that’s the case, then teach the staff basic customer service.”

“I’ve been to this place many a time, I like to take short holidays breaks in Manchester (one of my fav cities) and I ALWAYS make sure to drop into this bar. Although last time I dropped in everyday 😂. On a serious note these guys are awesome, they are helpful, really knowledgable about their products and just nice people in general. And a big shout out to Dan, you sir helped my pin collection! Huge huge thanks! Gold star to Dan 😍 Food is excellant, hot and always comes out in a good time. Beers are cold and taste great. Would recommend anyone to come, all are welcome and all are made welcome as well. See you soon guys!”
