About Uzbek Corner
Uzbek Corner is an Uzbek restaurant inside a shopping centre in Bayswater, at 2 Central Parade in London. The menu centres on plov, built from rice, lamb, carrots, sultanas and garlic, and served with pickles. Somsa comes as pastry filled with lamb, onions and herbs. Manti dumplings are served with sour cream, and a vegetarian version gives meat-free diners a main of their own. The kitchen prepares its dishes in house, and diners can eat on site. The restaurant opens Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and closes on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the plov, with rice, lamb, carrots and sultanas, and one calls it nostalgic, though another found the portion small. Close behind are the manti, described as juicy and tender and paired with sour cream, and the honey cake, called not overly sweet. Borsch, mastava and laghman also draw praise, along with the somsa, and the Uzbek black tea gets repeated mentions. Staff are described as friendly and welcoming, and one diner was given complimentary ice cream at the end of the meal. The main complaints concern portions and range. One reviewer found the portions small for the price and wanted more salt in the mastava and a more generous somsa filling, while another found them large enough to share a main. A vegetarian friend struggled to find enough options on a meat-heavy menu, and one diner who avoids beef and pork felt limited. A couple note slow service, with dishes arriving one at a time, though one reviewer said it was worth the wait.

“Wow wow wow. Everything was a solid 10/10. No notes. Friendly staff, lovely atmosphere, so clean and a great selection of food to choose from. Authentic food that tastes so flavourful - not a single thing tastes bad or bland. All the food comes with some kind of sauce or accompaniment. Best Uzbek food in London. The honey cake to finish off was the cherry on top - it’s so tasty and not overly sweet. We had a passion fruit sorbet and banana ice cream as well - they have a massive ice cream selection as well with cones/tubs. Best restaurant I’ve been to in a long time. Will be back for sure. We spent around £30 each but we ate a lot for 2 people…we had 1 starter, 2 mains, 3 desserts and 2 pots of tea. We were absolutely stuffed and the portion sizes are nice and big as seen in the photos. You could definitely share a main between 2 comfortably. I recommend trying the authentic Uzbek tea as well, it was delicious.”

“What a great place! The food was amazing, very fresh, homemade and super tasty! I had the Mastava soup with bread to start, the flavours were amazing and it made me feel like I was really trying authentic Uzbek cuisine. I then had the Plov with a side of Manti (dumplings) - such a nice meal all round. Another highlight for me was the super friendly service, the staff were so kind and welcoming and you could tell they were proud of the food and country that they are from! Thank you!”

“Lovely staff, extremely welcoming! They will be ready to give suggestion and explanation about food and they will try to accomodate your requests as much as they can! I dined there by myself but I felt like going to visit friends, even though it was my first time there. I tried the borsch and vegetarian manti. At the end of the dinner I was treated to complimentary ice cream! Absolutely recommend this place, they are still small and a starting business, and they need all the love!”

“It was my first time trying food from Uzbekistan, and it was absolutely delicious. Hikmat is such a talented chef, you can really taste the freshness of the food prepared here. The plov was my favourite as well as the honey cake! Everything was so yummy, I would strongly advise checking out this hidden gem of Streatham. Very friendly staff inside who make you feel welcome :) Thanks so much! 💖”
