About Turtle Bay Ealing

On 16 High St in London, Turtle Bay Ealing is a Caribbean restaurant built around a jerk pit, where chicken marinates for 24 hours in a jerk rub and is then flame-grilled. The half jerk chicken comes with hot mango sauce, plantain and sweet potato fries. The goat curry arrives with bara roti, alongside rice and peas. Cocktails run through the menu, with Bay Rum Punch among them, and a happy hour and a buy one get one free cocktail offer sit alongside. Breakfast is served as well as dinner, and a bottomless brunch is offered for groups of friends settling in for a longer meal. The menu advertises a DJ and live music, so the room is loud and lively when the music is on. Dogs are welcome, which suits owners who would rather bring their pet along than leave it at home.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the service, with one server named repeatedly for attentive, friendly table help, topped-up drinks and menu recommendations, including which dishes run spicy. Close behind is the jerk chicken and goat curry. One diner calls the goat curry rich and thick, with melting meat to dip bara roti into, and others praise a half jerk chicken with gravy, plantain and sweet potato fries, along with a hot mango sauce. The prawn starter, brown chicken and rice, dumplings and Bay Rum Punch also earn praise, and several mention the cocktails and bottomless brunch. The caveats are modest. Mains arrived slowly for one table, the coconut ice cream was small and loosely flavoured, and the jerk chicken wings starter was unavailable. One party of nine expected the live DJ listed on the menu and found none. One reviewer describes the room as loud, with bright lighting and high energy. One couple liked the breakfast enough to return for dinner.

“Incredible vibes and next-level service from Peary and Sia! We had the absolute best time at Turtle Bay today, and it was entirely down to Peary and Sia! From the second we walked in, they welcomed us with the warmest energy and amazing vibes. Peary was incredibly attentive, making sure our drinks were always topped up and offering the best recommendations from the menu. Sia was absolute absolute superstar—so friendly, fast, and constantly checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. They both went above and beyond to make our visit special. The food and cocktails were delicious, but the customer service from these two is what will definitely bring us back. Thank you both!”

“Lovely, warm, friendly and polite service from Chanel at Turtle Bay. Two cocktails! plus the half chicken was deliciously tender, with an amazing gravy, plus plantain and sweet potato fries. I left nothing but clean bones! 😋😜🤪”

“Incredible staff, beautiful food, and a completely safe space! Visited Turtle Bay Ealing Broadway today and received some of the best service I have ever experienced. Navigating restaurants is incredibly tough for me as a wheelchair user with CPTSD, fibromyalgia, sciatica, and severe anxiety. The staff here completely blew me away. Huge thanks to Peary and Sia, who were exceptionally attentive, proactive, and had the most wonderful, bubbly energy. The manager was also incredibly kind and understanding. They anticipated our every need, ensuring I felt completely at ease. The food and cocktails were also amazing, but it was the team's exceptional hospitality that made this meal unforgettable. Thank you so much!”

“Exceptional service by EMMA. She's worked tirelessly for 3 hours to make sure we had everything we wanted. Great energy and a smile every time she came to the table. Food as usual has been delicious and quite a good quantity for a party of 9. Only drawback was we were expecting live music (DJ) as it clearly states it on the menu so quite disappointed as we had to take our dancing shoes back 😭 Overall a fun night thanks to the service by EMMA and the gang.”

“First time trying Turtle Bay, and it completely blew me away! I was a little hesitant looking at the menu at first, but we decided to dive right in—and I’m so glad we did. We started with some nibbles to kick things off. The fried chickpeas were okay, but the plantain chips and sliced sausage completely hit the spot—especially paired with a delicious passion fruit cocktail (which was a super nice surprise with their Buy One Get One Free offer!). The main courses took a little while to arrive, but it was 100% worth the wait because everything came out piping hot and sizzling. I ordered the goat curry with bara roti, spiced rice, and fresh, crispy fries. Let me tell you: the goat curry is literally the G.O.A.T. The meat melted in my mouth, and the curry was rich, thick, and packed with flavor. Dipping the bara roti into it was absolute heaven. The rice and peas were soft, fluffy, and perfectly marinated in spices. I also got to steal a few bites from my wife’s plate—she had the ribs, coleslaw, and fries. Unbelievable. We also ordered the dumplings, which were incredibly delicious. I don't know what kind of magic they’re putting in the kitchen, but finding food this flavorful and satisfying in England is a massive win. Portion sizes are fantastic. I’m a big eater and love a feast that fills both the eyes and the mind, and Turtle Bay did not skimp out like some other greedy places. I left full right up to my throat! A quick note on a couple of personal preferences: the atmosphere is very lively with bright lighting and high energy/loud music. If you prefer a quiet, calm dining experience like I do, just be aware—it’s just their vibe! We also tried the coconut ice cream for dessert; while okay, the flavor was a bit loose and the portion was quite small compared to the generous mains. Lastly, the washrooms were clean and well-maintained. A big shoutout to our host at the end—a wonderful, super friendly Black female waitress (so sorry I forgot your name!). She was lovely, cooperative, and provided great service throughout our meal. Huge thanks to the chefs for the incredible food and the staff for a great overall experience. We will definitely be back!”
