Customer Review Summary
Grilled meat and kebabs with rice draw the most praise, described as tender, smoky and well seasoned, with light, fluffy, fragrant rice alongside. Close behind are the freshly baked bread, the lamb, and the manti, which one reviewer calls a must try. Portions are repeatedly called generous, and several describe friendly, welcoming staff and a cozy atmosphere with folk music, though one finds it slightly old fashioned. One reviewer prefers the lamb kofta to the lamb meatballs, and another singles out the shisha. The complaints are sharper. One diner found the food not fresh, the green chutney extremely tangy, the sauces tasteless and the hygiene lacking, and was told a dish had run out early in the evening. Another says the burger patty was solid and smelled off, arrived after a long wait in an empty restaurant, and reports vomiting afterward. In one visit, the waiter created a seating area with some privacy in an open room.

“Really enjoyed our meal here! The food was delicious and beautifully presented, especially the fresh bread, kebabs and rice. Everything was full of flavour and the portions were generous. Our waiter, I believe his name was Ehsan (apologies if I’ve got the name wrong!), was really lovely, friendly and attentive. He made us feel very welcome and provided excellent service. Overall, a great experience with delicious food and lovely service. Definitely a place I’d recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

“Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience here. The food was disappointing and did not taste fresh, and the overall hygiene could have been much better. The service was okay, but nothing special.. :( We also wanted to order a particular dish, but we were told it was already finished at around 7 PM, which was quite disappointing, especially so early in the evening. Green chutney was extremely tangy sour. No taste in any of the sauces. Overall, the experience was not good, and we expected much better from an Afghan restaurant.I hope the restaurant can improve the food quality, freshness, hygiene, and availability of dishes.”

“Absolute joy of a place! Firstly service by the young gentleman Mohammad was top class throughout the whole evening, he also prepared one of the best shishas I have tried in the UK hands down! (And I’ve tried shishas from Egypt to turkey to countless other countries) then comes in the food which is a whole other story, delicious, fresh, and perfectly cooked, (Manti is a must try)😍their variety is also incredible so if your a fussy eater you’ll definitely still be satisfied at this gem of a place! This was my second time to visit and definitely not the last! 10/10 highly recommend! ⭐”

“Claims 100% fresh on the menu but it wasnt. Burger meat was solid and stank like animal fat was pulled out someones freezer. Food took more than a hour idk how frozen patties takes a hour to make and no one else was in the restaurant. Food was garbage wife vomited in the toilets and i vomited hours later. Food was horrible wouldnt even feed my dog this. Honestly i recommend just going to the mcdonalds 1min away instead👌”

“recently visited Dhabar Afghani Restaurant and had a fantastic experience. The food was rich, authentic, and full of flavour — you can really taste the traditional Afghan spices and slow-cooked techniques in every dish. The lamb was incredibly tender, the rice perfectly fragrant, and the freshly baked bread was a highlight on its own. The staff Mohammed was warm, welcoming, and happy to recommend dishes, which made the whole visit feel relaxed and enjoyable. The portions were generous and great value for money. If you’re looking to try something different from the usual curry houses and want authentic Afghan cuisine, this place is definitely worth a visit. I’ll be coming back soon!”
