About Nando's St Christopher's Place

Nando's St Christopher's Place is a London restaurant at 16-18 St Christopher's Pl, built around flame-grilled peri-peri chicken made with African bird's-eye chilli in an Afro-Portuguese style. The chicken is offered at different heat levels, so spice can be matched to each diner. Beyond the chicken, the menu includes a chicken wrap, a spicy rice bowl and creamy mash as a side. Seating is split between the ground floor and a downstairs area, and the space is small. The restaurant takes walk-ins, and a queue forms outside at weekend lunchtime. Orders are placed by QR code.

Customer Review Summary

On the positive side, some praise the food, naming a spicy rice bowl, chicken wrap, thighs, coleslaw and creamy mash, and call the staff welcoming and friendly even when busy. One reviewer says an item ran out after ordering and payment, so a pricier substitute had to be chosen.

“Worst service I have never seen in a nandos restaurant in London. They are bad and disorganised. My order lasted 35min, then they served me, forgetting my young son order. I claimed twice, waiting again for 20min. They came apologising but it was too late. Shame on you!”

“Probably the worst Nando's I have been to. I came to your Nando's last Wednesday. When I arrived at the restaurant, one of your staff members took us to sit us down. The only available place on the ground floor was a very cramped corner. We asked the waiter if we can see the seats downstairs. Downstairs was little availability next to some loud customers, so we decided to stick with the cramped corner from the ground floor. When we went back upstairs, the waiter was completely gone. He went outside to serve someone else. Luckily, the table we were initially showed was free, so we went and sat down. When the waiter came back in, I walked to him and asked if we could have some menus. He said "yes", then went to bring a charger from the staff area and started cleaning tables, completely forgetting to bring us the menus he said he would. My partner went and grabbed the menus by himself, which was unusual, considering that every time I went to a Nando's, we would have a staff member sitting us at the table and giving us menus instead of having to do it ourselves. In the end, we decided to leave without ordering anything because we were worried that our entire dining experience would be similar. When we left, we passed by the same waiter who was supposed to sit us at the table and give us menus. He did not ask us why we were leaving. He just went to the table we were sat at and cleared off the table the menus we picked up earlier.”

“I visited the St Christopher’s Place Nando’s yesterday (24 July) at around 7:00pm, and I was absolutely disgusted by the state of the toilets. They were genuinely some of the filthiest restaurant toilets I’ve ever encountered. The sanitary towel bins were overflowing, which clearly indicated they hadn’t been emptied for quite some time. There was urine all over the toilet seats, the sinks were filthy with visible grime, and the overall cleanliness was shocking. To make matters worse, the hand dryer wasn’t working, leaving people with no way to dry their hands. As a result, water was everywhere, and the floor around the sinks was soaking wet, creating an unpleasant and potentially hazardous environment. The smell, the dirt, and the complete lack of hygiene made the toilets feel neglected and unacceptable. It honestly made me question the overall cleanliness standards of the restaurant. I’m a regular Nando’s customer and have always had positive experiences, which made this even more disappointing. I’ve never seen a Nando’s in such a disgusting state before. This urgently needs addressing, as it is far below the standard I expect from the brand.”

“Weekend lunchtime queue outside, which is expected. What was a little frustrating was seeing uncleared vacant tables from the queue with what looked like one server managing the whole floor. Possibly short-staffed that day. Once seated though, everything ran smoothly. Ordered via QR code, food came out well. Chicken wrap, thighs, chips, coleslaw, creamy mash - all solid. A decent visit, nothing that stands out either way.”
