Customer Review Summary
Katsu curry is the draw, and several reviewers call it tasty and authentic, with a few saying it matches the CoCo Ichibanya they know from Japan. The chicken katsu curry with eggs earns praise for fluffy eggs, crispy chicken and a delicious katsu sauce. One diner calls the pork katsu curry udon the best thing here, with slippery, fresh noodles that stayed hot to the end. Others mention the range of spice levels and rice portions, and one tried the pork katsu with kimchi but felt the spice added nothing. Portions are described as generous, though one wanted more chicken. Service is repeatedly called friendly, polite and efficient, and food arrived quickly on quieter afternoons. Price is the recurring complaint: reviewers say it costs more than in Japan and more than other London katsu spots, and one finds the quality not on par with Tokyo. One longtime fan says the curry has become thicker and the flavour has changed. Another only noticed an automatic service charge, never flagged on the menu, after paying.

“A pleasure as usual. It’s of course quite a bit more expensive that what you pay for Coco Ichibanya in Japan, but the taste is just as sensational. Friendly and attentive Japanese staff here, too.”

“Decent katsu curry. Nothing memorable but a convenient, casual spot to get some food if you’re in the area and don’t have a reservation booked elsewhere. Not the same calibre in terms of quality as their Tokyo counterparts and pricer too.”

“The world’s largest Japanese curry house chain has proudly arrived in London…and it’s ok. Good portion of pork katsu with kimchi. First time I’ve tried spicy katsu, last time too. Meh, doesn’t add to the dish. It’s fine here but there’s plenty of better priced, absolutely fine katsu elsewhere in London so I’m unsure what will make this place stand out. Service was very friendly.”

“Food is great, tastes just like Coco curry in Japan, even though it's much more expensive of course. However, I was surprised to see that they automatically added 12.5% (!!) service charge. Not only is it A LOT, but they added it without saying anything or any hints in the menu. I only noticed after I paid unfortunately. Not a good business practice, especially for a Japanese chain.”

“Only my second time trying katsu curry and wanted to check this place out for an authentic dish. So we of course had the standard katsu curry however there are so many variations, including many spice levels and options of rice potions. It was a really enjoyable dish, although I would have liked more chicken 😏. It was quiet when we went on a Sunday afternoon so we were seated straight away and food was delivered extremely quickly. The staff were very polite and helpful. Would really recommend for a quick lunch spot, for great food and service.”
