About En Root Peckham
En Root Peckham is a vegan restaurant in London serving an Indian-inspired menu made entirely from plants. The menu is organised into small bites, big plates and sweet treats, with hot drinks, other beverages and alcoholic drinks alongside. The crispy oyster mushroom tenders come in a hot date glaze, and the thali for two puts shroom rogan josh, dhal makhani and saag aloo on one order with golden rice, two veggie samosas and two parathas. That makes it a dish built for sharing at the table. The restaurant works on a walk-in basis. Among the drinks is a watermelon beetroot juice.

Customer Review Summary
The thali is the dish reviewers raise most, with the version for two praised for its shroom rogan josh, dhal makhani, saag aloo, samosas and parathas, and described as full of flavour and a fantastic way to try a bit of everything. Close behind are the oyster mushroom dishes, the crispy tenders with hot date glaze and the wings, along with the fried plantain with tamarind and the tandoori wings. One reviewer singles out the watermelon beetroot juice, and another calls the drinks creative and really good. Service is mostly described as warm, friendly and lovely, and several call the food fresh. One diner felt the oyster mushrooms got lost beneath the batter. Two lower reviews are more critical. One found the food bland and the service lackluster. The other reports a cold curry in the thali, off-tasting masala dosa, disorganised service, and a takeaway cheesecake that sat boxed for a while and had melted into something inedible after a five-minute walk.

“I gave a lot of thought to whether I should leave this review, as I genuinely love supporting independent vegan businesses and really wanted to enjoy my meal here. Unfortunately, our experience felt quite chaotic from start to finish. My partner and I shared a thali, and one of the curries arrived cold, as though it hadn't been heated through properly. I also ordered the masala dosa and, having eaten at many traditional dosa restaurants, I found the flavours quite off and the dish didn't taste particularly fresh. The service also felt a little disorganised, which added to the overall experience. We ordered a cheesecake to take away, but it was boxed up and left sitting for quite some time before being brought over to us. After just a five-minute walk back to the car, it had completely melted and was inedible, so we had to throw it away. If it's a dessert that doesn't travel well, it would have been helpful if someone had mentioned that before boxing it up. By the end of the meal, we'd spent what felt like a significant amount of money, which made the overall experience all the more disappointing. I hope this is taken as constructive feedback, as I'd genuinely love to see the restaurant succeed and would much rather be leaving a glowing review.”

“I was looking forward to visiting En Root. While there were some positives like the cosy atmosphere, convenient location and healthy food, the negatives for me,sadly, outweighed those. I found the food bland and service lackluster. This made me think a self service model might have made for a better experience altogether. I think with some improvements this place can be great.”

“Our experience here was like a warm comforting hug. The staff were absolutely lovely, and the space had such a strong sense of community. We got both the oyster mushroom wings, and the EnRoot platter with the Rogan josh mushroom and Dal Makhni. All great food that went straight to our soul. Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu.”

“My best friend and I finally made it to En Root! It's been on our radar for years, so it was definitely time to see if it lived up to the hype. We started with the crispy oyster mushroom tenders with a hot date glaze. The batter was beautifully crisp and packed with flavour, although the oyster mushrooms got a little lost beneath the coating.. For mains, we shared the thali for 2, which came with golden rice, shroom rogan josh, dhal makhani, saag aloo, rainbow salad, fried plantain, pickled cabbage, mango chutney, green chutney, two veggie samosas and two parathas. Every element was full of flavour and it was a fantastic way to try a bit of everything. The service was warm and attentive throughout. Overall, I'd give it a solid 7.5/10.”
