About Brown Eagle
Brown Eagle is a Jamaican restaurant in London, at 234 High Rd, where orders are placed at the counter. The menu includes curry goat served with rice and peas, ackee and salt fish with rice and peas, and jerk chicken. Drinks are all cold and made in house, with sorrel among them, and no hot drinks are served, so the sorrel is the drink to pair with a plate. Meals come in regular and large sizes, so the portion can be matched to the appetite.

Customer Review Summary
Curry goat is the dish reviewers raise most, described as cooked to perfection, the best in years for one diner, and as tasting like a mum's curry for another. Close behind come rice and peas, oxtail, jerk chicken that one calls packed with flavour, and ackee and saltfish called delicious. One reviewer also enjoyed a sorrel offered to try. Several praise the counter staff and kitchen as kind, friendly and entertaining. The complaints are just as pointed and recur. Several describe rude service, and one says Uber orders took priority while regular customers waited at the counter. On the food, reviewers report dry, tasteless chicken that seemed reheated, fritters gone hard as rock and oily, and a takeaway order that came out wrong, with tiny, bony pieces of chicken. One diner's large meal arrived without hard food because it is not served on Sundays, and a refund followed. Another was told to pay extra to eat in, which the menu does not mention.

“Delicious food, curried goat was the best I’ve had in years and the jerk chicken was packed with flavour. The kitchen staff were also very kind and even the customers were friendly too. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a warm hearty meal that will keep you going for hours”

“Horrible attitude, not welcoming, lady who served us was extremely rude fritters were over heated to the point that became like rock and couldn’t eat it and oily as hell. Food over priced considering the poor quality, gaved me diarrhoea both me and my friend. Really need to work on your customer service and hospitality- even if the food was a 10/10 I would never come back just for the way I’ve been treated”

“Absolutely awful experience at Brown Eagle. The staff were unbelievably rude to my sister and her boyfriend, especially the woman who served them — her attitude was shocking and completely unprofessional. What’s even worse is the serious allergy issue. My sister clearly explained that she has a severe nut allergy and specifically asked if the vanilla cake contained any nuts. She was told NO. My sister is blind, so she relies entirely on staff being honest and accurate about ingredients. After purchasing the cake, the packaging clearly stated that it contained ALMONDS. This is not just careless — it’s dangerous and completely unacceptable. This could have caused a severe allergic reaction. The lack of care, basic customer service, and disregard for something as serious as a food allergy is honestly disgusting. I would not trust this place at all, especially if you have dietary requirements. Avoid”

“I love coming to Brown Eagle both the White Hart Lane and Wood Green branches. I find the ladies behind the counter entertaining and the food is served with love. I look forward to coming here again x I really enjoyed the sorrel I was given to try I haven't had it in a long time 🔥😍❤️”

“Unfortunately, my experience at Brown Eagle was very disappointing. The staff were rude and unprofessional, showing no respect or willingness to help. The food was below average, and the atmosphere was unpleasant. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.”
