About JRC Global Buffet

JRC Global Buffet is a buffet restaurant in London at 159 High Rd, open daily, where guests take a plate and serve themselves. A live teppanyaki grill cooks meat and seafood in front of guests, and a separate grill station has chefs cooking beef and lamb fresh. The spread covers Chinese and East Asian dishes, Indian curries, sushi and Mediterranean grills, with sweet and sour chicken and salt and pepper prawns among the named dishes. The dessert area holds cakes, cheesecake squares, tubs of ice cream and a chocolate fountain, and each dessert is labelled halal or not halal. Staff clear used plates regularly during service. Payment is taken at the door on arrival.

Customer Review Summary

Desserts draw the most praise, with the chocolate cake and the chocolate fountain named as favourites, though one reviewer found the dessert station underwhelming. Close behind is the live teppanyaki grill, where freshly cooked meat and seafood impressed several diners, and one adds that the roast beef was super tender. Another reports being told at the grill station that beef and lamb would take more time. Opinion on the rest splits sharply. Fans praise the vermicelli noodles, sweet and sour chicken and Indian curries, while critics describe dishes that were very sweet, oily or heavily salted, with tough meat, undercooked chicken wings, undercooked fried rice, and food that goes cold quickly. Cleanliness draws repeated complaints: two reviewers describe dirty toilets, two found food residue on the serving plates, and one saw a fly land on uncovered food. Reviewers consistently credit friendly staff who clear used plates quickly, though one noted the staff did not seem to notice the unclean plates.

“Excellent buffet with a huge variety of fresh food from different cuisines. The live teppanyaki grill was the highlight of the meal, with freshly cooked meat and seafood prepared right in front of us. The restaurant was clean, the staff were friendly and efficient, and empty plates were cleared quickly. The dessert selection was also excellent, especially the chocolate fountain. Great value for money and a perfect place for families or groups. I will definitely be coming back. Highly recommended”

“Don’t waste your money or your time. If you’ve been to any of the other branches, I’d strongly recommend going there instead. This is by far the worst one, despite being the newest. The food selection was very limited, and many of the dishes were cold and unappetising. The prawns were honestly the only thing we enjoyed. We barely ate anything, and we’re both huge foodies, so that says a lot. The overall quality of the food was really disappointing. The service was just as poor. At one point, I saw a chef standing in front of the food watching YouTube on his phone instead of attending to the buffet. Even though the restaurant was quiet and there were plenty of staff, it took a long time for our used plates to be cleared. The fruit section was never restocked either, so there was hardly anything available for the entire visit. Overall, this was the worst £52 I’ve ever spent. The experience was incredibly disappointing from start to finish, and I genuinely wish I could get a refund.”

“I recently visited JRC Global Buffet in Wood Green for a birthday dinner, and it was a really enjoyable experience. There was a wide selection of cuisines all under one roof. The atmosphere was great and ideal for celebrating, especially with a group. Staff were friendly and attentive, making sure plates were cleared quickly and everything stayed tidy. Delicious dessert and fresh fruit. Overall, good value for money. I'd definitely come back for another occasion.”

“It’s decent value for money. Good range of cuisines and decently good, nothing spectacular but it’s not a rip off. Teppanyaki was great, sushi was good enough. Roast beef was super tender. I enjoyed a fair amount of the food there. They’re a bit lacking on the pad Thai and dim sum though. The one complaint is the toilets, they were absolutely blown up and dirty beyond belief. I’m lucky to have found one stall where there wasn’t any poop or vomit in the toilet bowl.”

“The cake was nice – one particular one stood out – but unfortunately everything else was quite disappointing. The sauces tasted watered down, many of the dishes were very oily, and some of the meat was chewy. However, the vegetables like the broccoli and mushrooms were really nice. The toilets were absolutely disgusting 🫣. They clearly weren’t cleaned at all during opening hours, which is really unacceptable and something that definitely needs attention. I’ve been to other JRC Global Buffet locations before and I’m sure they are better when it comes to food quality and cleanliness, including their facilities. One positive was the staff: they were very attentive when clearing tables and promptly removed unwanted plates, which was appreciated. Overall, it was an “okay” visit, but it will be my last time going to any JRC Global Buffet. They charge the same price as before, yet the food quality and standards are clearly slipping.”
