About Illyrian Grill House
Illyrian Grill House is an Eastern European restaurant at 55 Green Lane in Palmers Green, London, with an interior styled as Albanian and museum pieces on display. The staff wear traditional Albanian clothing and explain the history behind the dishes, and they give recommendations when guests are choosing. The menu centres on Albanian cuisine, with tavë dheu and fërgesë among the dishes, and grilled meats are part of the offering. Sirloin and T-bone steaks come from the grill, and the steaks are halal. The restaurant opens daily, and soft Albanian music plays in the dining room.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return to the grilled meats, singling out the sirloin and T-bone steaks and the Halal steaks, described as tender, juicy and seasoned just right. Close behind are the Albanian dishes, with one diner praising the tavë dheu and fërgesë as tasting just like in Tirana. Generous portions and good prices come up repeatedly, and several describe the staff as friendly and welcoming, with one hostess and one waitress singled out for warm service. Others mention the decor, Albanian music, traditional dress and museum pieces, and one says the staff explained the history and the dishes. The main dissent comes from one reviewer who visited with an Albanian friend, found the dishes lacking in flavor, and said both of them expected better from Albanian cooking, though they praised the waitress and the decor. One birthday diner was surprised with a slice of cake, a candle and a birthday song over the loudspeaker.

“During a recent visit to London with an Albanian friend , we selected this restaurant based on being albanian. While the service provided by the waitress was exemplary and courteous, the culinary experience was unfortunately subpar. The dishes lacked flavor, a sentiment shared by my Albanian friend despite his usual high regard for Albanian cuisine. The overall impression of the food was akin to that of a less distinguished establishment. I suggest exploring methods to enhance the flavor profiles and consider alternative approaches to present more authentic and nutritious Albanian dishes. Although the restaurant's ambiance and decor are commendable, the food regrettably did not meet expectations. Having experienced authentic Albanian cuisine firsthand, which I found to be exceptional, it appears a return trip to Albania may be necessary to truly savor a proper Albanian feast.”

“Me and my friend came here for the first time on Saturday and we had a great time. The food was amazing and our first time trying authentic Albanian food. Prices were really good and the staff were very friendly, especially our waitress Sherry. Definitely come here if you are in the area!!”

“What a HIDDEN GEM near Palmers Green! An outstanding experience with amazing Halal steaks and Albanian cuisine! One of North London's best. The museum pieces are also a great touch! A great family, kids and elderly friendly restaurant with very kind service - we got history and dish explanations as well!”

“This place has to be the place with the freshest ingredients/ food. Everything was genuinely a 10/10 from the starters to the mains. Staff were excellent like Jaicy and Deniro with advanced wine knowledge and check ups. Go for the Sirloin and T- bone steak, haven’t had meat like that in a very very long time. I think it is a given that we will be back”

“The Illyrian Grill House is truly an authentic Albanian restaurant. Walking through the door felt like stepping through a portal, from London into the northern parts of Albania, into Shkroder and Pukë. The food was amazing, the hostess, Sheri, was so welcoming and encapsulated the warm and friendliness of Albanian culture. The chef was so generous with her portions, it felt like we had enough food to feed Skanderbeg himself and his legions. And the prices are so affordable. I high recommend Illyrian Grill House.”
