About Barbie Green

Barbie Green is an Australian all-day restaurant, café and cocktail bar at 2 London Wall Place in London, set in a glass building that looks over gardens. Inside, large windows and hanging plants frame the dining room. The brunch menu follows an Australian theme and includes pancakes and shakshouka, while the drinks list runs from fresh juices and coffee such as the flat white to cocktails in the evening. The kitchen and bar are open daily, so the same address covers a morning coffee and an after-work drink.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often point to the brunch, with the pancakes called a standout, light, fluffy and generous enough that finishing them is a challenge. Smoked Salmon Royale draws praise for perfect poached eggs and fresh salmon, though one reviewer expected a bigger portion. Shakshouka, fresh juices and the flat white also get favourable mentions, and several describe the garden-view terrace and glass-walled room as lovely.

“Lovely spot of brunch served by the absolutely delightful Ioanna. Think the weather helped but 4 very happy customers, shame we didn’t have time for the pancakes.”

“We had brunch here and it was excellent. The food is very tasty and the portions are generous. The drinks were very good and well presented. The service was friendly and the prices were right. -1 star because they always add a ridiculously high service charge of 13.5% and -1 star again because they attempt to hide it by only showing the amount on the bill rather than the percentage. This ridiculous money grab needs to stop. Bring back tipping!”

“Popular brunch spot by The Ruins of the Wall on London Wall near the Barbican. Innovative Australian-themed menu, good coffees, lots of selection, friendly staff, quick service. Recommended especially if the weather is good.”

“🌿 my brave souls.. hi!🌿 Today’s review is a slightly emotional one for me… because this was my farewell brunch before leaving London for the summer holidays🩵 So… my faithful and dear friend and I decided that our final gathering deserved something special. A proper feast. A memorable one. I had actually been curious about this place for quite a long time. Because the restaurant is surrounded by office buildings and skyscrapers this place feels like a little green sanctuary 🌳 hidden in the middle of all that chaos.. like an island of calm. The outdoor terrace overlooks a beautiful courtyard with trees, bushes and benches. Inside, the atmosphere is equally lovely. Large windows, hanging plants and woven chairs .. Now… let us discuss the food 👀 my noble dining companion and I decided to order two dishes and share everything. I got Smoked Salmon Royale and asked for the hollandaise sauce to be removed because I really don’t like it.. The dish arrived with two small slices of toasted dark bread topped with poached eggs and smoked salmon, spinach and half an avocado. The quality was genuinely excellent. The poached eggs were PERFECT, the salmon was fresh and avocado was perfectly ripe. And on top - a beautiful curation! But for nearly seventeen pounds I was expecting a slightly bigger portion… 9/10 My lovely kindred spirit companion ordered the Healthy Start. this dish came with chilli-infused vegetables. We asked whether the chilli could be removed, but the waitress said that it cannot.. We agreed to proceed anyway… the decision we later somewhat regretted 🙈 The dish included celeriac toasts, broccoli, tomatoes, spinach and half an avocado. I must say that the celeriac toast really surprised me!! It was actually very delicious and reminded me a little of the cabbage “steaks” I sometimes make myself. Sadly, the chilli dominated the entire dish. Instead of tasting the vegetables individually, all we could really notice was the heat. Still the quality and freshness of everything was really decent - 7/10! We both ordered an Americano- a reliable, pleasant cup of coffee. 8/10 We chose to sit outside, where it was much quieter and more peaceful than indoors. Inside almost every table was taken. And because we were outside, service felt a little slower, but the staff were consistently friendly and polite throughout our visit🍯 I definitely recommend this place maybe not necessarily as an everyday brunch destination but a special occasion like ours! 🤍”

“We were SO excited to find this spot as it’s local to us and on arriving we were delighted with its cool location and decor but it was all downhill from there. Service was awful, I wouldn’t even call it service….i ordered pea hummus which came with wasabi, I asked for the wasabi to be kept off (was ordering for my baby)…similarly I asked for their flatbread to come without salt/pepper…all noted by the server on taking our order, however the food (when it arrived 45 minutes later) hadn’t been adjusted as ordered. When I raised this the way the server spoke to me was disgusting… “well that is what’s written on the menu” - despite him saying that our edits were totally fine during ordering. So anyway. They took it away and my child had nothing to eat. Half of our items didn’t come into 20 minutes later - including side dishes so the whole meal was a disaster. When we informed another server that dishes were missing her really was super rude and passive aggressive, “OK!” It was only right at the end when we came to pay that the manager decided to show a bit of niceness (obviously fake), but too late…we asked for the dishes that were taken away to be taken off our bill and for th service charge to be removed too. That’s when we received a long list of excuses such as “we’ve got a new menu, we’re understaffed” etc etc I work in hospitality an the importance of service is make or break for a business….do a check in after putting food down, apologise for delays, mistakes and misunderstandings… acknowledge when something has gone wrong…it’s simple! As for the food that did arrive, it was only ok. Our salads were dirty and clearly unwashed. Picture attached. Definitely style over substance - more of a insta wannabe hang out spot, not at all worth the money. What a let down”
