About Tamys Nails

Tamys Nails is a family run nail salon on Church Lane in London, where the owner works alongside a team of technicians. BIAB is a core part of the service list, available as a full set or as infills, and the salon also covers manicures and pedicures. Nail art is done to order, and customers can bring in designs of their own for the team to work from. Eyebrow waxing and tinting run alongside the nail treatments. Removal of existing gel or extensions is carried out in the salon by mechanical filing and is booked as a separate treatment, so it is worth flagging when you make the appointment. Everything runs by appointment rather than walk in, and a wait is possible once you arrive. The salon opens Monday to Saturday and closes on Sundays.

“Been going to Tamy’s for year now and Tamy and the team are great! Eyebrow waxing and tinting is always perfect- thanks Emma! I go back consistently for biab as it keeps my nails strong and looking good. They are alway happy when I take in new designs to try out.”

“I've done my brains there two times, and the end result was good, it looked good and lasted; BUT every time I go went for removal, they completely destroyed my nails. They have a very harsh way of removing the nail polish/gel with mechanical filing, taking out layers of your nails and making them horribly frail. It takes month of growth to get back your nails, and you can't even polish them with regular polish as you can see indentations where they have been filed, which look so bad! Even if you leave your nails to grow naturally, they'll split and break. They have talented technicians but they could revise the removal, or you could just remove them yourself, which is way less harmful. Instead of paying 20£ for removal, and having them destroy your nails, just do it at home. It's a shame.”

“Unfortunately this place keeps getting worse. I came in to get my nail polish changed as they had chipped almost immediately after leaving my previous appointment. While I was there a young lady who was there before me and came in for just a single nail repair was left waiting while other people came in and went ahead of her - including me. It got to the point where she ended up leaving without any treatment. I’ve seen this happen numerous times and it’s happened to me before too. I find that Tamy herself will only do manicures and will leave people to wait or put other people ahead - it’s not fair and it’s also the last time I will be visiting.”

Customer Review Summary

Regulars returning over many years center their praise on how long the nails last, with several describing gel and BIAB work that holds up and, in one account, keeps natural nails strong. Close behind is the design work, with repeat customers noting the owner suggests new colours and looks and welcomes designs they bring in themselves. Also mentioned are eyebrow waxing and tinting, the massage chair during a pedicure, a spotless bright salon and loyalty discount cards. The complaints are specific and recurring. One reviewer describes gel removal by mechanical filing that left nails thin, ridged and prone to splitting for months, and suggests removing them at home instead. Another reports a BIAB infill with mismatched lengths, colours unlike the samples and gaps at the cuticle they worried could harbour infection. A third describes waiting while later arrivals were taken first, including a woman who left without her single nail repair.
