About Peckham Bazaar

Customer Review Summary
Grilled tiger prawns on Greek orzo are the dish reviewers name most, described as fresh and summery with a bite to the orzo. Close behind are the chickpea croquettes and fritters and the courgette fritters. Diners also single out the grilled octopus, scallops, slow braised lamb shoulder, a stuffed globe courgette, and a mackerel special on a salad. Taramasalata with pitta is praised, as are flatbreads with dips. Several describe ordering far more plates than planned because they wanted to try everything. Staff are called friendly, attentive and lovely, and the Greek white and Sicilian orange wines are called tasty and good value. The mood is described as warm, relaxed and buzzy, even on a Monday night. The only practical complaint comes from one reviewer who found availability limited on the day and suggests booking in advance. One group of fifteen held a birthday lunch here, and another diner enjoyed watching the chef grill in the open kitchen.

“We went to Peckham Bazaar for our second wedding anniversary. My husband used to live in the area when we first started dating, so I wanted to book somewhere in our old stomping ground. I'd read about it in Time Out London, Eats Dulwich and Other Tasty Bites, and got more and more curious. I love bold flavours and generous portions, and I care almost as much about how food looks as how it tastes. The menu is billed as Mediterranean, which honestly undersells it. It's Middle Eastern and Southern European inspired, and every dish had something surprising in it. We ordered seven plates between two people because we couldn't narrow it down, and I regret nothing. The patio and the interior are understated and cool without trying too hard, which lets the food do the talking. A few standouts: the grilled tiger prawns on an orzo base, cooked almost like a risotto with tiny diced carrot and white wine, still with a bite to it and so fresh and summery. The watermelon and kohlrabi salad with whipped ricotta. The grilled octopus, which was perfection. Sardines, slow braised lamb shoulder, and chickpea fritters that were not greasy at all, served with a pumpkin style purée and a zesty yoghurt sauce that I'm still thinking about. Not one dish I didn't like. I'll be trying to recreate some of these at home and will be back soon.”

“Wow! This place is fantastic. Great atmosphere, lovely service and just the most amazing food. Every dish (we had 10 between 4 but could have managed with 2 each - we just got greedy) was standout and cooked perfectly. Save space for the delicious desserts. Greek white wine was also excellent and good value”

“Had an absolutely delicious dinner here, the food, wine and service were all excellent and on point. Stand out dish, the days special, mackerel fillets on an esmé salad, absurdly good! Highly recommend.”

“Peckham Bazaar is one of those places you end up recommending to everyone. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels warm and relaxed, and the team make you feel genuinely welcome. The food was outstanding. Every dish came out full of flavour, well balanced, and clearly thought through. You can tell there is real care in the cooking. It is the kind of menu where you want to try everything, and nothing disappoints. Simple ingredients done properly, with confidence. What really stood out was the service. The staff were friendly, attentive, and easy to talk to without ever feeling overbearing. They were happy to guide us through the menu and made the whole experience feel smooth and enjoyable. It is rare to find somewhere that gets both the food and the service right, but Peckham Bazaar does exactly that. It feels like a proper local spot that people return to again and again. If you are nearby and have not been yet, you are missing out. It is a great example of how good a neighbourhood restaurant can be when everything clicks.”
