About Tziganos - Italian & Spanish Restaurant
On Montpelier Vale in London, Tziganos - Italian & Spanish Restaurant serves a Mediterranean menu across two floors with bare brick walls. Spanish tapas sit alongside Italian dishes, with jamon croquettes on the Spanish side and porcini tagliatelle among the pastas. Pasta and pizza also come in tapas size, so a table can share them. Homemade desserts include tiramisu. Thursday evenings bring live Latin music, with bachata classes in a room upstairs. Food deals change from day to day, and Thursday's is a tapas deal.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often return for the Spanish and Italian tapas served as small shared plates, with pasta and pizza also available in tapas portions. The porcini tagliatelle, jamon croquettes, saltimbocca, aubergine parmigiana, carbonara and octopus tentacles all draw praise, and the patatas bravas and chickpea chips get a mention too. Close behind is the welcoming owner and staff, described as lovely and making guests feel at home. Homemade desserts, including the tiramisu and pistachio tartufo, are singled out, and the espresso martinis and cocktails are called great. Several mention evening entertainment and Latin music. The criticisms are specific. One reviewer found the chorizo very oily and the croquettes mostly cheese sauce with a soft shell, noted that no one from front of house checked back, and reports that their partner felt nauseous afterward. Others note a salmon dish with only two chunks, cauliflower that was not al dente, no alternative milks, chairs too tall for small children, and the nearest toilet being on the first floor. Reviewers also mention Thursday bachata classes in an upstairs room.

“Really unfortunate trip, we ordered three sharer plates (Chorizo, Bruschetta and croquettes). The chorizo was incredibly oily, to the point where it was pretty gross. The bruschetta truthfully was alright. The croquettes were awful, they were filled with a cheese sauce and little to no other filling. The cheese in the croquettes tasted awful and the texture of the shell was soft, almost as if they had been microwaved. Not a massive deal but noone from front of house checked back with us after dropping off our food too as we would've said at the time the food wasn't up to scratch, rather than sharing this publicly. I'm always one to support small businesses and was hesitant to put in a review but my partner has been in bed ill for the last two hours feeling nauseous. This review is more so for the owners to please review your operations, I hope the food standards improve.”

“Beautiful restaurant with a great atmosphere and really lovely staff. The food was delicious and the prices are very reasonable. If you're ever in the Blackheath area, definitely check it out. Special shout out to the pistachio tartufo!”

“Would 100% recommend coming here! It’s a Spanish-Italian fusion and they do it right! The food is the best I’ve had in London, very competitive prices and Thursdays with the live music from such talented people can make your day and even your week! It’s a super cute spot to go for a date or just to hangout with friends or family. We went there for a friends birthday. They have great deals on food and the cocktails are amazing. Antonio and the staff are lovely, there’s such a cozy and welcoming vibe. And again I cannot express how good the music is. Even in normal days they play lots of Latin music which makes for a really chill atmosphere. They also host bachata classes in a room upstairs on Thursdays, which I must recommend! All good vibes with East London Bachata. Try this place once and you will be very grateful to me! I could make this a million words but I’ll end here just saying thank you to Antonio and the team, what you do it’s so amazing.”

“This place is fantastic! Their Spanish tapas are delicious and I loved the fact that they have an Italian fusion in their menu. We tried the jamon croquettes, the saltimbocca, the aubergine parmigiana and the pasta carbonara and they were amazing!! The owner is very welcoming and he makes you feel at home. The deserts are homemade and sooo good! Their atmosphere is also unique, we highly recommend it.”
