About INKO NITO - Soho

INKO NITO - Soho is a Japanese restaurant at 55 Broadwick St in London, and it was the first UK site for the brand, opened in May 2018. Robatayaki is cooked on an open charcoal grill in the middle of the dining room, and depending on where guests sit, they can watch salmon fillets being grilled and dishes prepared. The menu follows an izakaya style of small plates with tapas-like portions. Chicken yakitori comes off the grill, and the temaki and maki rolls include a Korean fried cauliflower maki. Lunch brings a salmon donburi served with rice. A bar pours cocktails, and a happy hour is available. The restaurant is open daily.

Customer Review Summary

Friendly, attentive staff are the most common thread, with reviewers describing servers who recommended dishes to suit their tastes and a warm welcome from the moment they walked in. On the food side, diners single out the temaki and maki rolls, including the spicy tuna tempura maki and crab sushi, along with a yellowtail sashimi salad that one family ordered three times. Others praise the salmon donburi grilled in view of the open fire, baby back ribs, chicken yakitori and the bone marrow. The grill draws the sharpest criticism. One reviewer found the lamb skewers, corn on the cob and aubergine flat and lacking punch, and another called the food average for what it cost. Portions are the other recurring complaint, with one diner still hungry after a large bill and comparing it to tapas. One reviewer reports a server who didn't write down the order and brought the wrong dish. A happy hour visitor liked the price, and a surprise birthday dessert for a 12-year-old stood out for one family.

“I am giving 3 starts just because of the prices compared to the portions. The food was tasty but, for the price you are paying, I could expect a bit bigger portion. After spending 100£+ we were still hungry. It's more like a tapas”

“My girlfriend and I visited the restaurant today. We had fantastic food of really high quality, and the atmosphere was wonderful. Everything was perfect, and the staff was extremely kind and helpful. I highly recommend it to everyone!”

“I’ve been here a few times over the years so I’ve always known they were great for food and drinks but as of recently, it’s been my go to for lunch. I guarantee that there’s no other place you find freshly cooked food with such generous portions, at this price point. Depending on where you sit you can see them grilling your salmon fillet and preparing the dish. Service is top tier and prompt, food is fresh and flavourful, atmosphere is decent -not too loud and stimulating but somewhere you can chill out. For me it’s a Monday to Friday 12-4pm thing but I’d definitely return to explore the other options. Order: Salmon donburi with rice, elderflower shisho”

“Brilliant to find a Japanese izakaya with open fire grill in the middle of the dining room. We enjoyed some brilliant spicy breaded chicken, baby back ribs, sweet potatoes in this incredible yogurt-chilli sauce, chicken yakitori off the charcoal grill and then some edamame and rice. Charming and attentive staff and showstopping desserts. Yum! Quite the elevated experience.”

“Visited Inko Nito Soho recently. The service was very good throughout the meal – staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome. Unfortunately, the food was fairly average and didn’t quite live up to the expectations. Everything was presented well, but the flavours were nothing particularly special or memorable, especially considering the price point. There wasn’t anything wrong with the food, but there also wasn’t anything that stood out enough to make me want to return specifically for it. Overall, a decent experience thanks to the service, but the food itself was just average.”
