Customer Review Summary
Tuna leads the praise, above all the tuna tartare chips with avocado, which one reviewer calls the best thing eaten that day. Close behind are the crispy rice with tuna and a tuna roll with otoro and chutoro, which another reviewer calls superb. The sashimi is described as very fresh by several, with the yellowtail loin and chu toro singled out. Also praised are black cod marinated in amazake, kasu chicken, a beautifully fresh omakase and a plum sorbet to finish. Opinions split on the rest. One diner found the altered sushi rice in the hand rolls unnecessary, the prawn tempura roll average and the udon unbalanced. The same diner said the wagyu patty wasn't juicy enough, though another calls the burger incredible. Others report overcooked scallops, chewy pork and chewy seaweed, and one calls the pricing extremely high. Staff are repeatedly described as warm, friendly and professional. One reviewer's partner's birthday brought decorated plates and extra desserts, and another had the chewy pork removed from the bill.

“Mind blowing. We’re quite used to traveling left and right; trying out different cuisines - but this was nothing I’d ever experienced. Thank you to the whole team for this delightful moment.”

“A truly delicious restaurant I would honestly count it among the best Japanese restaurants I’ve ever been to. The wagyu burger was incredible, the omakase was beautifully fresh, and the antioxidant dessert truffles with crispy centre was absolutely lovely. Even something as simple as the miso soup was surprisingly delicious.”

“Amazing Japanese restaurant in a historic building, the beautiful Grade-II listed Walton House. The space has housed a famous Knightsbridge restaurant, Toto's, for many years and now is the home for Masaki Sugisaki's modern Japanese kitchen. The incredibly high ceilings makes for a stunning dining room and a fireplace from one of Churchill's residences is a fantastic feature. I had the sake Masaki has procured especially for the restaurant, a very light and refreshing sake. Dinings SW3 '78 Gin". Made by the sake brewery Konotomo Shuzo, founded in 1690. Amazing stuff. Do not miss the citrusy sauce to dip the edamame beans in and together with the flaky salt, a perfect nibble before the dishes starts rolling in. I was started off with some tuna tar-tar Chips - so so good, with avocado bits. I had a selection of Sashimi, do not miss the Yellowtail premium loin sashimi and the Chu toro! The Salmon seared belly nigiri was sensational as was the aged Bluefin tuna Akami with truffle soy (absolutely fantastic sauce) and Seabass umi shiso sashimi. In addition I had a cold cucumber chicken salad which was so fresh and delicious and some cut udon noodles in a tahini infused dashi broth - sensational. To end I got a single (could not have eaten more!) Japanese plum sorbet scoop with delicate, sweet plum wine reduction sauce. Cannot express sufficiently how amazing this experience was for me. I dined alone and the service was top notch with some chatting from servers but not too much. Great staff and a cozy, at the same time elegant space. Would be very nice for a date night.”

“Absolutely loved the food as well as the lovely staff !! As Japanese, I highly recommend the restaurant to all of my friends! In fact, a Japanese friend of mine recommended me and that’s why I chose to dine there, I am absolutely obsessed with the food, especially the sashimi which were suuuuper fresh! Also special thanks to the chefs and staff who organised my request for my partner’s birthday with decorated plates and extra desserts! I much much appreciated it and thank you so much for making the day soooo special! I’d definitely come back soon !!”

“I had an exceptional dining experience at Dinings SW3 in Chelsea. From the ingredients and service to the cooking tools, every detail reflected genuine pride, care and craftsmanship. What impressed me most was how thoughtfully everything had been considered, from the design of the space and the sourcing of ingredients to the dishes themselves and the carefully curated drink pairings. There were so many moments of discovery throughout the meal. Joe, the sommelier, recommended a Portuguese Madeira wine that reminded me of Japanese plum wine, and it paired beautifully with the black cod marinated in amazake and soy sauce. I also learnt that the wonderfully rich, oceanic seaweed comes from Takaokaya, a specialist seaweed shop in Japan. It complemented the tuna sushi roll filled with otoro and chutoro perfectly, and the flavour of the nori itself was genuinely memorable. One of the highlights was sitting at the counter and watching the chefs prepare the sashimi and sushi with such precision and care. It made the experience feel even more special. What truly sets Dinings SW3 apart is the passion of everyone involved. Learning the stories behind each dish and drink transformed the meal into something far more meaningful than simply dining out. A special thank you to Head Chef Mika, manager Phillip, sommelier Joe and Tamie for their warm hospitality and wonderful conversation throughout the evening. Their professionalism and genuine enthusiasm made the experience unforgettable. I would happily return, and I highly recommend Dinings SW3 to anyone looking for an authentic and thoughtfully curated Japanese dining experience in London.”
