Quick info
About Oliveto
Oliveto is an Italian restaurant in London at 61 Elizabeth St, pairing a pizza menu with dishes drawn from Sardinia. The Sardinian side of the kitchen runs to porceddu and bottarga pasta, with Sebada for dessert. Pizzas sit alongside other pastas, and the menu also covers meat and fish mains, with starters to open the meal. The team suggests a daily special, so the choice extends beyond the printed menu. A wine list of bottles accompanies the food, and the dining space includes both indoor tables and a terrace. An upper salon can be used for private dining, which gives groups a room of their own.

Customer Review Summary
The caveat is service and consistency. Two reviewers describe cold, slow or unfriendly staff, one waiting a long time at the entrance and again for an order while the room was half empty. One found the tartare off and the sausage pasta undercooked with a sweet tomato base, and another found the pasta overcooked and the ragu lacking seasoning. Prices are called on the higher side, and one reviewer would not recommend the coffee. One guest who contacted the restaurant about a stained raincoat said the manager showed no interest.

“The location of the restaurant was lovely but the food was average and the staff were pretty unfriendly. I did not feel like a valued customer or that they were interested in us . But my real disappointment was when I got back to my hotel I realised that my new raincoat had obviously fallen on the floor and had black marks on the front . I did call the restaurant but the manager wasn’t interested.”

“🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 5/5 – A truly delicious Italian dining experience! I ordered the grilled salmon as my main, and it was outstanding! Cooked just right – beautifully golden and lightly charred on the outside, while staying so tender, moist and flaky inside, it melted in the mouth. It was simple, fresh and full of flavour, just like it should be. 🥦🐟I alao had fresh asparagus spears, which were honestly some of the best I’ve had anywhere. Crisp, sweet and perfectly tender, seasoned only with a little good olive oil and a squeeze of lemon – simple, but absolutely delicious. 🥦🐟 Paper-thin slices of high-quality parma ham – delicate, salty-sweet and so flavoursome, just melting on the tongue. You can really tell they only use the finest ingredients here. 🥓 The service was warm, friendly and attentive without being overbearing – the kind of genuine, welcoming hospitality that makes you feel right at home. The atmosphere was cosy, relaxed and full of charm, just like eating at a little family-run place in Italy. I left feeling happy, full and already thinking about when I can come back .”

“I had never really been satisfied with eating out in the UK, but when I ate here, I was genuinely impressed. It was the first time in a long while that I felt I had truly enjoyed a delicious meal. The prices are on the higher side, but rather than risking disappointment at a slightly cheaper restaurant, I would definitely recommend coming here. We shared the bottarga pasta and the Margherita pizza, and both were served warm and were absolutely delicious. I will definitely be coming back!”

“A lovely spot to have a bit of lunch. A bit expensive but we were told not to expensive for the area. 2 pizzas and 3 wines was £97 which is strong by anyone's books in my opinion. But it was delicious and the staff were very attentive. I would go again.”

“Looking for a casual local italian option? Surely at Oliveto you will find the dish you are craving for with a local, cosy and relaxed environment. Oliveto offers a plentiful selection of italian dishes, from Pasta & Pizza to main courses including fish, milanese fillets and others. I dare you will find the dish you are craving for here! Such a wide menu with a daily selection and recurring winners. Food Recommendation is the Milanese (veal) and Tartuffo Pizza with the Catalan Cream as dessert. Portions are very well served, 1 dish per person is more than satisfying. Pizzas: house-made with wide options of vegetarian taste and italian ingredients; nontheless. I would recommend Oliveto if you are looking for an easy & relaxed restaurant. This will not be 'fine dining', nor the type of dishes that with take away your breath, but fit multiple purposes and will certainly satisfy your belly and heart. The restaurant closws early on weekends, so would recommend booking in advance and try to make an early dinner. Fridays after 10pm is already closing. Ideal for family and business. The have a good selection of bottles of wines and drinks. They even make a pairing suggestion for desserts and food that can be found in the menu. They have a terrace and indoor space with an upper salon that can be used for priviate dinning. Found the price well-adjusted for the overall quality, but also portions! Good balance. Recommendation to Oliveto: If not already done; preferably, shorten a bit the menu and focus in creating a "house creation" (guess is i.e. the veal Milanese).”
