About Rasoi Ghar

Rasoi Ghar is an Indian restaurant at 137 Leman St in London, run as a curry house with a menu that includes many vegetarian dishes. The Rajasthan lamb sits alongside the familiar curry-house choices, including chicken tikka masala. Starters and sides come as poppadoms with chutney and as breads like garlic naan, and the drinks list includes mango lassi and chai. The kitchen cooks Indian food throughout, so meat eaters and vegetarians can order from the same menu. Hotels in the Tower of London area are about a 10 minute walk away.

Customer Review Summary

Rajasthani lamb draws the most repeated praise, and other diners name the Kohinoor lamb and a tender lamb shank. Close behind are the poppadoms with chutney, which one reviewer calls the best they have had, along with butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, garlic naan, a very spicy vindaloo, mango lassi, chai and Irish coffee. Several reviewers describe hot, fresh food, large portions and a welcoming service, with a manager checking on tables. A few visitors staying at nearby hotels found it on a short walk. The complaints are specific. One diner who asked for spicy food received a mild dish, needed hot sauce and green chilies, and found the portions small. That diner also reports that no one checked on the table and that a 12% gratuity was added, which they asked to have reduced. Others note samosas smaller than usual and a veg biriyani that was not as good as the rest. A group of ten still found every other dish tasty.

“The food was delicious, served at perfect temperature. I'm was thoroughly impressed with the poppadoms and accompanying chutney (the best I've ever had). The service was efficient and the staff were pleasant. I wish we had such an Indian restaurant near our home. We thoroughly recommend the place.”

“The service was very kind, welcoming and professional. Food was delicious, hot and tasted very fresh. The portion sizes of main and rice were very filling. I enjoyed my experience and would definitely recommend to a family member or friend. (Just note the samosas (not pictured) were smaller than the typical size I’m used to seeing) Overall a 10/10 experience. Thank you for a warm welcome.”

“Specifically requested for food to be made spicy. Reiterated and emphasized the requested to make it spicy. Well it was so mild that we had ask for hot sauce, etc and they provided a couple of green chilies. Portions size was also small. Additionally they never bothered to come back and check or ask how we were doing or how the food was. Not wanting to make a fuss, we just ate it. When another person came to clear the table and asked us, we told them about our disappointment. Then two three people showed up and began giving stupid reason, which was more aggravating. To add insult to injury, the bill came with 12% gratuity. Imagine tipping them for dismal food and no service. Had to ask them to to deduct 3 pounds from the gratuitywe were not satisfied. Not returning here”
